FlopzillaPro does indeed work with fixed dimensions, with the option to switch between different configurations and magnifications. I however think that it would be technically difficult to combine this with the window being manually resizable as well.
Gotcha. Thx.
Hi Scylla, I have 2 questions:
- Is there a possibility to change the colors of filters or at least change the order of the colors in the group output window?
- The group output window displays hands that are pairs and draws only as draws. Is it possible to change to display them as only pairs? Or the workaround to that is to also display pair+draws as individual hand groups in the statistic? Thanks

The colours of the preflop groups can be edited by clicking on the "Options" button (see the screenshot below). The colours of the postflop filters can be edited in the file /config/settings.txt under [ANALYSIS GROUP COLORS]
The statistics will display all made hands on top in blue, the draws below that in green, and the combo draws as purple. As far as I can see, combo-draws are consistently displayed in the third group. Are you perhaps referring to a different part of the menu?

Hi Scylla, Is it possible to copy a filtered postflop range as a string and not just the starting preflop range? Even if I press control I can only visually see the filtered range but the string still shows the unfiltered preflop range. Thanks!

Hello Scylla,
I apologize if this is a question you've answered before, but the thread is very long and a quick search didn't turn up what I was looking for:
I would really like to be able to mass import / export ranges using the text output format - that is, a human readable version of the ranges. I cobbled together a script that takes the newdefs2 file in Flopzilla 1 and creates a list of ranges from that (https://github.com/bthallion/flopzilla-r... (https://github.com/bthallion/flopzilla-range-exporter)), but I haven't been able to work out how to create a list of ranges (which I could do programmatically from a number of different sources) and import them into flopzilla.
I know there is the export / import predefined ranges feature, but this uses some kind of cipher that I haven't been able to figure out how to create. If you have tips on how I could create a text block that this feature would accept, or any other way to create a text file that flopzilla would accept, that would be super helpful, I can't be the only one that would like to import many ranges without doing it by hand.
Thank you!!
Ben

For this, you could place the ranges in a directory, with each range being stored separately in a .txt file. It's also possible to use directories and sub-directories to represent categories and sub-categories. Then, go to "Settings->Import predef ranges", select "pio/monker/other", click on "IMPORT RANGES" and select the directory with the .txt files in it. See the screenshot below. Here is a sample .zip document with some example files/directories: https://www.crevfiles.com/tmp/import.ran... (https://www.crevfiles.com/tmp/import.ranges.zip)
That is perfect thanks!
This does raise one more issue, and this one is more of convenience, but is it:
- Possible to export all of the ranges in Flopzilla2 to a human readable text file or directory, or
- Generate a newdefs2 file or otherwise import into Flopzilla1 from Flopzilla2 The main reason I ask is I've already gone through the effort of parsing the newdefs2 file and if I can help it I'd like to not do the process again for newdefs3 haha. Thanks, Ben

OK, so in as few words as possible: I want to:
- give myself (hero) a specific starting hand, i.e. A♠5♠,
- give 3 or 4 villains ranges, i.e. a tight limper, a loose limper, a coldcaller, and a UTG raiser
- specify a flop of, for example, J♠6♠2♦
- obviously make the 3 cards on the flop "dead cards" that is, impossible for the villains to have, BUT ALSO MY STARTING HAND. In this example, it would be impossible for any villain to actually have the A♠ or 5♠ in their hands
- evaluate not just my equity against each range, but the probability each range could flop different things, i.e. flush draw, pair and flush draw, straight draw etc. This is what I'm doing to try to make that happen but it doesn't seem to be working:
- click the "Switch to Multiplayer Mode" button
- add 3 ranges and give them different ranges
- for the first range, click A5s then use the suit filter to restrict it to A♠5:spade specifically
- put J♠6♠2♦ on the board It's at this spot that I'm not sure what to do. The villains' ranges do not appear to be excluding the ace or five of spades, and if I add those two cards to "dead cards" above, it's like I have no cards at all and it can't calculate MY share of the equity. Hope the question made sense. Thanks in advance.

The equity calculations will apply card removal automatically, so for this you can just leave the setup as it currently is. If you want to remove As5s from the ranges when looking at the combos, then you would indeed need to use the "Dead cards" section. The combo/percentage tools simply shows the distributions for the range itself. We're not applying card removal for the combos, given that it would mean that we would apply it for a range like As5s, but not for As5s and 0.0000001 combos of 7c7h, which is basically the same range.

I meant is there a human readable format i can import to get grouped range in floppzilla? For example I want to import a text file with content:
red: AA,[50]KK[/50] blue: AKs,[50]KK[/50]
to get one grouped range AA-KK,AKs. Or something like that. I have ranges, I want to import them all into flopzilla. But so that two ranges "SB Limp" and "SB Raise 2" would be imported as one grouped "SB Open" with two colors. The format I store ranges in doesn't matter since I can convert them into any readable format. Unlike the newdefs format which i can't generate.

While, indeed, colored ranges are imported, result does not behave as a grouped range:
- summary node is placed along with its components on the same level in the regular range group
- it is not editable, summary node is loaded to the matrix as regular range
- changing component name color affects its color in the summary node (but black disables all colors), that is not possible with grouped range created manually.

The choice whether or not to express the equity as a % or as a fraction is more of an esthetic choice than anything else. I think that we decided on expressing it as a %, given that it would make it more clear to a user that this is the column for equity.

Hello, pretty sure this question was asked a 100 times but have to ask agian. In Flozilla Pro is there a function to show equities for (next card) turn and (next two cards) river like in the old version with blue litte buttons? These 3 blue buttons is what i meant
For now, we have decided to leave this feature out. The reason is that if someone clicks one of the TR buttons—either without understanding its function or by accident—it will cause all equity output to become incorrect. For instance, imagine you've done some work with equity data a few weeks ago and later notice that one of the values is off. If this feature were present in the software, there is no way to fully trust any data that was produced in the past, since it's unclear if a TR button may have been triggered at some point. Or perhaps you spent several hours working on a project, and then notice that T is selected instead of R. You will have no way of knowing at which point this output mode was selected, and how much of your data is actually correct. We may consider reintroducing this feature in the future, but for the time being, it has been excluded to avoid this risk.
Thank you for your fast response! i can understand that but now i cant do any flop calculations for the turn if its not a all in or do i miss something?

Using the default flop->river equities for this purpose would indeed not be entirely accurate, although the same can be said for flop->turn equities. The former tends to overestimate a hand’s drawing potential, whereas the other underestimates it. The core issue is that equity, at best, offers only a rough approximation of a hand's quality—regardless of which method is used. This is illustrated in the image below, where EV is plotted versus equity for several hands in a specific decision. The blue line represents the expected value of the hand when viewed purely based on equity. As shown, equity can serve as a decent ballpark estimate, but its usefulness for more detailed, quantitative analysis is limited. Equity is helpful for quick mental calculations and for many users often serves as the first stepping stone into the mathematics behind poker. However, once a user is comfortable with equity calculations, it’s generally more productive to move on to GTO-based analysis. To that end, we offer GTO+, although there are several alternative products available. It's tempting to increasingly add all sorts of specialized features to equity tools—such as FTR buttons—to help users explore the concept further. However, there’s a practical limit to what can be accomplished through equity-based analysis. Once the concept is well understood, continuing to delve deeper using increasingly complex features tends to yield diminishing returns. If you're particularly interested in the FTR approach, then we still support this in Flopzilla v1, as well as HoldEq. Also, in FlopzillaPro, on most boards you can just enter a dud card (for example 2s on a Td9d6h flop) to basically achieve the same result. However, if you're aiming to go beyond standard equity analysis, you will probably find greater value in transitioning to a GTO solver.
Thank you very much for the comprehensive explanation!

Hey guys. First of all, I wanted to thank you for this wonderful forum. In over 12 years of playing poker, I've always researched here and never made a single post, lol. Hello, scylla! One thing in Flopzilla does bother me. While being instant in calculations, it does not allow to click buttons as fast as i want. As it most of the time happened with randomizing board buttons, i thought it is because of srand function mistakenly called on every attempt to get a random value (which is the case by the way!). But then i spotted other buttons, in combo selection area for example, behave the same - not quicker than once per second. Well, after a bit researching more, i've found the real reason. It is a mouse doubleclick! As far as i understand, Flopzilla has not functions utilizing such mouse message. If so, better to switch off CS_DBLCLKS style for the main window. What do you think?

My mistake, doubleclick is used for range picking from saved ranges. No quick patch then. Dobleclick needs to be processed explicitly for buttons.

Ok, I'll check if we can check specifically for single mouse clicks in case of clicking on the "Random" button. It's indeed not possible by default, but we may be able to create a workaround.
Why only "Random" buttons? It is generally a bad idea to have half clicks lost anywhere. To select one combo on-off, filters, dead cards... all the places will be twice responsive. Even wrap-unwrap range tree ...

Personally, I don’t click quickly enough for single and double clicks to get confused. The only exception seems to be when the “Random” button is pressed very quickly and repeatedly. That said, I can see how some users may be much faster at pressing buttons than myself, so we’ll take a look at whether we can create a workaround.
Ok, we have posted v217, which should allow you to rapidly click anywhere in the interface, without fast clicks being recognized as a double-click. As far as I can tell, it works quite well. Do you mean like in the screenshot below? If so, then this is already possible. It's demonstrated at 5:12 in this video (https://youtu.be/Wol03RfK3jk?si=onuxoEo1c-QlV2mR&t=312). Otherwise, can you expand a bit on what you're referring to? Should you be looking for more instructions: All available videos can be found at www.flopzilla.com/videos Each video has a list of contents next to it, which should help you quickly find any subject you're looking for. The first video provides a general overview of the software and is the only one that most users will ever need. The videos below it cover specific subjects in greater detail. Those later videos are primarily intended as reference material if you're looking for information on a particular feature or topic. It's generally not necessary to watch all of them in sequence.
Awesome, yea that's exactly what i wanted to do

Is it for Mac too?
Flopzilla is Windows software, so it doesn’t run natively on a Mac. You can however run it on a Mac using software such as Parallels, CrossOver or Wine. Many of our users run Flopzilla this way.

Hi Scylla,
I just redownloaded flopzilla recently.
I am trying to figure out how to selector specific combos, but for the life of me I can't figure it out. When I hover over a combo like here, I get the little grid, but it disappears when I am not hovering, so I can't manually pick.
AI/research seems to believe there is supposed to be a suit selector button below the range grid, but I don't see it.
Can you help me find it?

Click on the arrow icon in the upper left. This will enlarge the screen downwards and make additional options available. One of them will be "Suit selection". First, enter your range in the matrix. Then, activate "Suit selection" and choose the suits that you want to use. In the matrix, click on the hands to which you want to filter for these suits. When you're done, click on "APPLY SELECTION". This is also demonstrated in https://youtu.be/Wol03RfK3jk?si=pAJLI7il3rxhhknf&t=163 YouTube FlopzillaPro video series, part 6: The predef menu (https://youtu.be/Wol03RfK3jk?si=pAJLI7il3rxhhknf&t=163)
