A guy like Diesel could live off $100 per week if he had too as long as he keeps his diamond plus status. Literally all he cares about is that he doesnt have to work a regular job and that he can continue to feel like a high roller even though he is broke. If he made $100 per night he could stay 3 or 4 nights at Harrah's then he can roam around like a homeless bum over the weekend. He can live off food comps and his daily 4 drink vouchers. Sure it wouldn't be as comfortable as what he is doing now but that doesn't seem to bother him. He will cust his expenses down as much as he needs to in order to keep this up. That gives him so much joy and satisfaction that it makes up for all the inconvenience and discomfort. In his mind he is still king of the world and the smartest person in any room even if he is a homeless bum living on the streets half the week.

Ok guys, I am truly embarrassed that anyone would think of me as a stalker. How many people have speculated that Christina is living off of alimony? I just went the next step and said let’s try and track down her divorce records. Divorce records in every state are public records! It’s the most interesting thing to us as observers of poker personalities, especially when there is an apparent disconnect with what we’re viewing. I am truly intrigued how Tim and Christina manage to live this lifestyle when all the evidence suggests they shouldn’t be living at that level. So, once again, I am embarrassed that even one of you would think of me as a stalker. This could not be further from the truth. So I did a little math. Assuming Diesel can 'get by' on $10K a year, he could actually make $7/hr playing poker, and survive. That's 48 weeks of poker, 30 hours a week, with a $7/hourly win rate, gets him a little over $10K a year. Of course he wouldn't be able to invest in his dividend portfolio.

He probably could. He probably gets a room comped every once in awhile. A lot less than before, when Rio was still CET. But he would still get Rewards Credits that he could spend in a budget food place. Instead of wasting drink vouchers on gatorade he could get smoothies or protein drinks with real food value.

I have no idea what I spend a month on food. Im not a fancy restaurant kind of person but I will spend money for a good steak a few times a month. Don't care about atmosphere or over the top ass kissing waiters. I do it out a lot and I buy what I want from the supermarket. I eat a lot of eggs so the egg prices last year did get annoying for a few months but they've been back to normal for a while.

I chuckled at the part where he said he will need to take a 10 day "vacation in Vegas" with no poker, after the gruelling ordeal of actually working for 6 weeks. I think we all know what that entails. Locking himself into the cheapest most basic room he can secure and then stocking it up with all the cheapest smelly foods. Then it's a busy schedule of King of Queens reruns and rewatching the back-catalog of Troopers Vlogs. Only stepping foot out of his smelly room in order to get his daily allotment of 4 free drinks, and perhaps to steal some condiment packets.

In his mind he will be one of the far superior dealers and having to pool all the tips and split them with the substandard dealers will tilt him, but should make for some good rants.

I really hope Diesel vlogs his tentative WSOP dealing experience in 'real time'. My prediction: If Diesel does deal the WSOP, he will find an excuse to quit. And the reason he quits is, of course, 'someone else's fault'.

Does someone want to set a line for odds that Diesel actually deals during WSOP? Or deals over/under X amount of hours? I can't wait for the rant about the Caesar's hiring/scheduling/pay/etc process and why they totally screwed him.

William Hill and MGM have it posted at +2300 to work over 11 full days dealing.

Rio is gone now, so it would have to be Flamingo or Harrah's. Or nothing. We'll see how cheap El Dorado really is. I agree on him working the whole Series, with one possible exception. They always hire twice as many dealers as they need because they expect a lot of them to quit. Last year a lot of them did quit, but not because they were overworked. They were UNDERworked and a lot of dealers quit because they weren't getting the hours they wanted. Which ironically gave the ones that stayed, more hours. I think if Diesel can't get the hours he wants he might bail. BTW, has Diesel ever worked as a dealer? Also, you can criticize Trooper for a lot of things, but being a bad dealer ain't one of 'em.

If your ultimate goal is staying alive while not working then it's possible to live 100% for free by being homeless and sleeping on the streets. It's amazing to see the good quality food people buy and give to them. Sometimes they get so much left for them that they can't even finish it all and it builds up around them while they are sleeping. This is just what I witness in a location with a very low homeless rate, it might not be so lucrative in a place like Vegas.

No troll, he has actually improved his system typing it up on a cracked smartphone, he used to use T9 on a flip phone. Like Angle said, not only does it artificially inflate his hourly, but when you factor in federal and NY taxes — his hourly is probably like $7 or less. Diesel is probably one of the very few people in the world dumb enough to pay taxes on low stakes cash winnings and vain enough to keep minute by minute results to make himself look better. It is most likely a similar story when we look at his “dominate” academic career. He was an A student but I’m guessing based on his horrible time management skills, he took roughly 3 times as long on assignments/studying as the next A student. Both are A students but Diesel’s inefficient, slow work output will never translate well to a real job outside of tutoring or teaching.

It appears the rooms are going to $1/3. Is that too big for Rice? Last night, I played at the Horseshoe and noticed they are now dropping $6+2. Won't that reduce his hourly by $1 or 2?

My guess is he will move more of his action to MGM rooms. However, he still needs to play some at CET rooms to hit Diamond and keep his primary source of cheap rooms.

Rice basically sees life as being about survival, nothing more. Life's pleasures and luxuries are wasteful and aren't something he strives for. Either that or he does understand the concept but has to lock it away somewhere to enable him to continue to live the way he does.

Laugh at himself and not take himself so seriously all the time. He goes around the strip laughing at people waiting in lines and telling random people on the internet how great he is and how miserable they are to cope with his lifestyle. The way to handle these types of comments is to 1) Ignore them 2) respond in a light hearted / self deprecating way 3) wash over the insults (don't be so thin skinned) and address the point being made What not to do is make a strawman that the person who commented is a losing poker player and attack them for that. When I stopped watching he was able to point to videos where he showed (maybe “claimed” is a better word) he earned significantly more than his expenses and was able to save close to 4 figures every year. Doesn’t seem like he is able to do that anymore. The issue is that the guy commenting is right and Rice will earn less money and respond by trying to decrease his expenses. He isn’t able to address the criticism so he insults the person leveling it.

You do need a membership to use the food court Sadly, this is no longer true for non-members. Since early 2020, Costco has required a membership card to buy anything at the food court, including chicken bakes, barbecue beef brisket sandwiches, ice cream and churros.

It's actually amazing. At about 17 I realized spending the next 40-50 years working a 9-5 with 2-3 weeks vacation a year wasn't for me. But he thinks the only options for people are work miserable jobs they hate until they're 95 or play poker for min wage and there is no in-between. It's actually mind boggling he hasn't figured out that it doesn't have to be one extreme or the other. He can gasp- make more money and save a lot more in the process. And while a lot of people are terrible with money,there are also a lot of people who make good or great money who would kill themselves if they had to live like a pauper and only save a thousand or two a year. I have no trouble getting in. I kept my old card and just flash my pic at the door. The problem is with actually buying the hot dogs. The store I went to most no longer has a line to order. It has order-taking "kiosks". When I try to pay, the system recognizes my name from the credit card apparently, and knows I'm not a member any more. I don't know how it works if you pay cash, but I figured if they are checking my cc for membership, they would just ask for my membership card at the counter if I tried to pay cash. I figured they didn't care if you were a member when I lived in California because the food counter was outside. You didn't even have to go into the building.

In Diesels latest vlog he compares expenses from 2022 and 2023. He claims inflation isn't a thing, the proof is that all his expenses were lower in 2023 than 2022. His goal is to bring down his expenses further in 2024. His genius plan is to gradually bring down his total expenses to zero and transition into being a homeless bum sleeping on the street. Then try telling him that inflation is a thing!

He is actually crushing it poker wise, he is probably top 5% of earners for low stakes 1-2, 1-3 grinders. Poker is the one thing that people shouldn't criticize him on. He is clearly a winning player and can handle volume. Majority of people have leaks related to fatigue or tilt where they can't win as much if they played the volume of a full time player. Anyone that extrapolates their win rate playing 500 hours a year and assuming it would be the same if they played 2000 hours are just being ignorant. If you haven't played 2000 hours in a year then you just don't know what your win rate is if you were a full time player. The lesson here is do not play low stakes poker for a living.

When he is absolutely stinking and banging on about random baseball trivia or asking dealers to name the songs playing in other parts of the casino that could just about be heard in the poker room. Then also pouncing on any opportunity to go off on one about rules following the slightest mistake from players or dealer. Then getting out a cup of old meat that has been stolen from a buffet and offering it round. All this would be so tilting!!

He literally went busto in Vegas and had to play his guitar for money on the pedestrian bridges. Yea of course hes top 5% when most of the field at 1-3 are super recs who come to Vegas get drunk and play cards once per year. His $14/hr winrate comes from years past when the games were much softer, and significant table selection, which is a good skill to have I will give him credit for that. I would bet anything his winrate these days is <$10. The bar is low, but its not fair to compare his ability to the avg rec. When you compare him to other professional poker players, hes easily bottom 5%, maybe even 1%. The amount of time he wastes casino hopping to find the perfect table tells you everything you need to know about him. There is an opportunity cost to this if you are actually good at poker. But he knows deep down he's a breakeven or very slight winner at the average table, so it's not worth his time to stay there. If he had to play average tables every day, he would starve to death. He is simply not good enough at poker. I'd root for the guy if he would show some humility, but being a bottom 1%er thinking you are a top 1%er is the worst trait you can have. My guess is 1500-1600 hours, $7-8/hr, $10/11k. His parents probably spent more on his health insurance than he made all year. It is takes like this on practically every subject, combined with smug know it all arrogance, that shows why the guy is unemployable in any office type environment. Coworkers like this are the first to get booted from the team, not get their contracts renewed, and probably detected and eliminated in the interview process in the first place.

If what he said in his vlog is true then he is probably tipping more than half of his hourly away to dealers earning at least 3x what he's making. That combined with the fact he insists on filling for New York State income tax while residing and working in Vegas warms my black heart.
