Original OP: Sweet!! Hopefully sometime by mid 10'. http://www.philly.com/philly/hp/news_upd... (http://www.philly.com/philly/hp/news_update/79477672.html) Last update: 2018.01.18 Welcome to the Parx Poker thread! Basic information: As of Jan 2018, the poker room has been relocated to the main casino. It is on the west side of the building, between Chickie & Pete's and the new Xcite Center theater. Entering from the west entrance, it is a short (but circuitous) walk through various slot areas to the poker room entrance in the back left corner. The poker room is smoke-free, but the main casino floor is not. Small daily tournaments will probably be held in the main poker room. Larger tournament locations are still TBD, but will likely not take place in the main poker room, instead being held either in the old Parx East building or in the Xcite center. More details once they are finalized. There are currently 48 live cash game tables: Live Game Report (https://www.parxcasino.com/gamereport) Main Parx Poker Room site (https://www.parxcasino.com/poker) Twitter feed: @parxpokerroom (https://twitter.com/parxpokerroom) Parx Poker Blog (https://parxbigstax.blog/) Located in Bensalem (Just outside Philadelphia) PA: Location Map (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=PARX+Casino,+Bensalem,+Street+Road,+PA&aq=0&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=64.241198,135.263672&ie=UTF8&hq=PARX+Casino,+Bensalem,+Street+Road,+PA&ll=40.115824,-74.957914&spn=0.030095,0.066047&z=15&iwloc=A) No hotel is onsite, but several are very close by: Hotels with a Parx poker rate (http://www.parxcasino.com/poker) (scroll down to Where to Stay) and Other Nearby Hotels (http://www.tripadvisor.com/LocalMaps-g52189-d1627786-Parx_Casino-Area.html) Amenities: Automatic shufflers. Every seat has a USB charging port located under the table. Alcohol is available, but is not free. Tableside food (https://cdn.parxcasino.com/pdf/poker/menu-poker-room.pdf) is available in the afternoon and evening, but with a more limited menu than previously. Other restaurants options are a short walk away in the main casino - you will need to walk over and get it yourself. Delivery from outside establishments is no longer permitted. Coffee, tea, soda, juices, and water is complementary. Tableside massage is available during peak hours.

Comps:

  • Comp values change somewhat over time. At this time, our best guess is that all cash games pay ~$0.90/hr in comps, except for 10/10 NoLimit or 15/30 Limit and higher pay ~$1.80 /hr.
  • Comps are immediately available on your card. (You can ask a dealer to swipe you out and back in to maximize your comps before placing an order.)
  • Comps expire after 60 days.
  • Comps can be used at the bar or when ordering food or drinks from the waitresses or servers in the poker room. They are also valid at any of the eateries located in the main casino building such as Chickie & Pete’s, Parx Grill (steakhouse), & the food court restaurants. You can also use them to buy Parx clothing and other swag, located in the display at the front of the room.
  • Comps all spend dollar for dollar.
  • The rating or color of card do not affect anything comp related in the poker room at this time.

Bad Beat Jackpot (http://www.parxcasino.com/badbeat) Parx now has a BBJ. Hold’em games that pay a pot rake are eligible: this essentially means 1-2 NLHE and 2-5 NLHE. $1 is taken from each pot once it reaches $20 and becomes BBJ eligible. 80% of this money funds the BBJ, the remaining 20% funds promotions (listed below). All BBJ money is returned to the players as BBJ or promotions. Simple rules: Get beat out of a $20+ pot while holding quad sixes or better and you'll take home 40% of the jackpot! The winning hand takes 20% and the last 40% is divided between the remaining players at the table! A more detailed explanation of the rules... (https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/199/poker-venues/parx-casino-bensalem-pa-faq-op-724255/index379.html#post42675873)

Promotions: 20% of the BBJ funds collected go to fund promotions of various sorts, typically (half) hourly high hands during specified hours. Check Bravo, twitter, or the website for details on the specific promos running now. Note that only games which are BBJ eligible are eligible for promotions.

Getting there: There are no direct buses from either Philadelphia or NYC to Parx. Getting there by car is definitely easiest. Using Mass Transit from NYC, your best bet is to take NJ Transit to Trenton, optionally take Septa to the Eddington Station, then take a taxi or uber the last few miles to Parx. From Philadelphia, bus routes 50, 130, 20, and 150 make stops at Parx, but not all buses run at all times. Check the Septa website for more info.

Weekly tournament schedule (http://www.parxcasino.com/poker#!/poker_tournaments): Current schedule, structures, and info sheets can be found at the link above (click Poker Tournaments if needed). For your convenience, the current tournament schedule is reproduced below: Mondays 7pm: 80+15+25, Green Chip Bounty with Re-entries Tuesdays 7pm: 100+20, No Re-entries Wednesday 12 noon 65+15, Deep Stack Turbo with Re-entries Thursday 7pm 100+20, with Re-entries Saturdays 12 noon: 200+30, Deep Stack with Re-entries Sundays 12 noon: 60+10+10, Deep Stack Turbo with Bounties

Parx Big Stax Tournament (http://www.parxcasino.com/bigstax) About four times a year, Parx runs its 3-week long Big Stax Tournament. Details can be found at the link above.

Why would they do it when they can make money fist over hand with rakes? They would likely restart their big tournament series once they get the Hotel up and running.

Wow, was there Tuesday and they were playing 50/50/100 PLO with a $200 straddle. That was much bigger than the 200/400 mixed and the two tables of 50/100 NL they had going.

You earn comp money if that’s what you mean. I’m not sure what the rate is these days they’ve been tweaking it down over time. Maybe a dollar an hour or less I’d guess.

Last Tuesday night, a dealer told the table that Big Stax is coming back from mid-July through early August. I haven't found any online corroboration, but he seemed pretty certain with specific dates (which I have forgotten).

fwiw, i have also heard this before seeing someone say it here. it's not really that surprising, the room has slowed down some as the economy has slowed. while tuesdays are still busy, other days are less busy. i know the AM games have also been starting significantly later than in previous post covid years. in 2022 it was very common to have an overnight 2/5 game and sometimes more than 1 and a new 2/5 table would get opened at like 8:30. recently, it is common for the overnight 2/5 game to break well before 8 am and the new 2/5 games havent been starting until 9/9:30/10 am on some days. obviously every day is different and i'm sure anyone can point to random days that go against what i just said, but those are outliers now.

Not sure about NL but plo has ebbs and flows. A few new players will come into the pool for a month or couple of months and the 5/5 game will run 7 days a week. Eventually they stop coming and it runs 3-4 days a week most weeks. A few months later some of those players come back, you pick up some new blood and hopefully 1 or 2 run really well and wreck a few backpackers and the game goes every day or almost every day again.

I wanted to ask this. I would def travel to parx for it. I would hope the news came out early as I would def not take a full Vegas trip because I consider parx big stax to be one of the greatest series in the northeast.

Big Stax July 26th -Aug 15th. Looks like there’s a $750 and a $1500. I wish there was something in the $300-$600 range but it’ll do for now. Great structure with 45 min levels for day 1’s and 60 mins for day 2.

Running the $750 the same time as Borgata is running their $500 500k guaranteed seems like a terrible choice

it looks like they took that into account and avoided overlapping Day 2 and 3s from both tournaments Borgata $500 Day 1s are 7/28-8/1, Day 2 is 8/2, Day 3 is 8/3 Parx $750 Day 1s are 7/31-8/2, Day 2 is 8/4, Day 3 is 8/5

I guess that makes sense. I didn't check both day 2s i just knew the general dates but it seems like if you make day 2 of borgata you can play day 1 at Parx so it is a good choice.

The commute is weird but whatever. I just don't see the appeal of turning a Holiday Inn into a casino hotel. Honestly, the only reason I still go to AC at all is for the resort nature of the hotels. Replicating that at the best cardroom in the area would be a great thing.

I have virtually no 1/3 time logged this year so I can’t really speak for how the game is playing, but it always has games running when I’m there and it typically has the most tables running regardless of the time of day or day of the week. Generally speaking, when there are 7+ tables running nightly, it shouldn’t be difficult to find a good table.

It doesn’t work because of inefficiency of poker room. I stopped by Sunday, they said they don’t have structure because it’s not decided yet. !! It clearly shows how incompetent are the management staff is . No one seems to take a lead . Yesterday, Tuesday, they had a 100/200 NL table. Haven't seen anything that big as an open NL game in a while. There was also 200/400 mixed. The 50/50/100 PLO didn't run: maybe it runs on Saturday. There were also 4 tables of 10/10 PLO at one point.

I've occasionally seen 100/200 nl here before. Last year a 1000/2000 mix game a few times and it wasn't full. That 50/50/100 plo has been going way less often the last few months than it used to.

Their dailies (both Monday $200 and Friday $340) are very soft. Big Stax series bring out tougher fields.

I've never played either but if it's some amazing game who the hell is going to post about how great it is on here?

I don't get down to play very often any more, but it's basically half the same players as borgata. Some very good players, some who splash around, some who do both.

I was getting like $100 for certain player props a year ago...I don't know what the cash deposit max is, I inserted $1000 no problem. You can have the sportsbook attendant make you a ticket to use with the machine.

Is the rake on 1/3 still $5+$1? Maybe I'm an idiot for not realizing it sooner, but Live! in Philly is now $6+$3

I haven't been at parx for a few weeks but it's been $5+$2 for a while. Hopefully they haven't upped from that/

2-5 NL Triple is 2k cap. 500 min I believe. 40/80 Mix is THEBROS -- Horse plus 2-7TD and Badugi.

Is parx now taking $5+$3 at 1/3 and 2/5? If so does anyone know at what % they take the jackpot dollars at each stake?
