Are there any regular LO8 games running in/around Seattle these days? I'll be in SEA for a few days at the end of September. I also enjoy low-stakes LHE, and other HORSE games. Where I live now there are no legit live cash games at all, so I don't want to miss the chance to play. Any tips/advice? I haven't seen a SEA thread here for a while.

red dragon is back. baccarat, that is. maverick rebranded it as dragon tiger. they have about 5 tables of $25-$400 baccarat and one pai gow. maybe a 3 card poker. recognized one dealer and pit boss from pre-pandemic club hollywood. i haven't played bacc in 4 years and right away hit a streak of 17 hands, no player. (old man sitting next to me with $1000 always bet banker but wouldn't pull the trigger one time during the streak because ... i don't know why. maybe he liked watching me win.) also hit 30:1 on a $50 bet. good times. didn't try the food. then stumbled into aces down the street and somehow managed to break even in 4 hours of PLO (peaked at $4000). not sure what the lesson here is.... but crazy moose is about to lose a large chunk of my action.

Current games: Badugi, 2-7 TD, A-5 TD, Badacey, Badeucey, Stud 8, Omaha Hi, Big O, and Razz They are working on getting other games approved like Dramaha and Archie. Plays 7 handed.

Thanks for the info! Hope those last two games don't get approved before I make it to a game. Ugh, that's awfully far out of the way from downtown Seattle though.

Eric persson raised the prices on a couple things this week.

Must be in another downswing at high stakes. They increased the 400+50 to 400+60. I mentioned it to the Director and he said it was only a small increase and I said "It's a 20% increase in the rake (50->60)" and I don't know of anything that increases 20% to be considered small.

What's the rake (or time fee) in the 6/12 mix and 15/30 mix?

For 15/30, it’s $5 with rake reduction to $4 for 5 handed and $3 for 4 handed. Enjoyed playing with everyone last night. Still no Dramaha games but good mix with a lot of 1 winner games. Good food half off as well. And free fresh cookies at 3 a.m. brought around to the tables.

+753 1/3 PLO [ 2-3 hour session] Usual suspects at Ace's poker. I hadn't played in here in a year or two, last time I played poker was at Caribbean like last November. Notable hands: [hero buys in for $200, donks off $80, then adds another $200) TT77 suited. $10 straddle on button, i call in late position, button makes it $50, like four people call. Flop is AJ7. Lady "J" UTG bets 200, I go all in for 270. Everybody else folds, "J" calls. Turn is a T, river a brick. "J" had two pair, AJ AAxx double suited worked out a couple times for a few stacks Needed more servers working the floor. Went to WinCo for some groceries, stopped at Dicks. A deluxe is $5.30 now, geez! They'ye not even that good, I'd rather have a big mac/qpc at the same price. edit: overall, the 1/3 PLO at Aces is a fun, low-stress game. We had two people call all in flop/turns with nothing but a gutshot. I'll be going more often in the fall/winter. Parking can be tough, however at 6pm on a Saturday there were a few primo spaces open. Some of the regs, i.e. "J", can be annoying, but at this point most everyone in the room is aware of their tit so there's less drama.

jawhooNewbie2 posts

Sadly I think a Big Mac is like $8 now, so I'll still solidly choose the Deluxe even if it costs too damn much. My fat guy meal of deluxe/cheeseburger/fries/shake is now over $15, smh. I've only played at Aces twice, but both times barely found a spot in their lot. And, I've wondered if it's 100% safe if you were to head out to the further spots with a thousand or two cash in your pocket (not that that's been a concern of mine with how I play, har har). Anyone ever heard of anyone having trouble in the parking lot? And, are there secondary options if you get there and the lot is full, other than waiting for someone to leave?

steve420waRegular89 posts
Posted Aug 25, 2024, 10:10 PM#26

$6.49 for a big mac in my part of town. The MCD's down the street from Dick's has to be open late? From what I've seen at Aces, people just start parking on the yellow striped curbs, in the driveway of the little coffee stand, etc. I've never not been able to find a parking space, you'll just be parking in the way way back on a 70s era light industrial park. Just keep in the back of you mind... houses here are mostly in the 800k range, how bad could it be? Also the PLO regs I'd imagine always have big bankrolls and still play. I've always imagined casino parking lots to be safe; I'd be more worried about accidentally dropping my cash rather than being mugged in the 1-5 minutes it takes to get to your parking space. I think people ordering shakes is what slows the line at Dicks. Dude in front of me ordered like 3 of them

Maverick increased rake again on the 400 mtt. Originally 400+50, then about 6 months ago 400 + 60. Now 400 + 70 and they call the extra 10 dealer appreciation like they never paid the dealers before. I am about done with poker in Seattle. The weekly is 150+50. Perssons is raking mtt to death.

Live at Ace's poker, Lakewood. 6/12 Omaha. A couple of the usuals from way back are here. I remember when this place was an actual casino. Better bathrooms than Ace's Lynnwood, McDonald's across the street. Got 3/4 of a massive kill pot with nut hearts and nut low, was almost $400. Raised/capped multiple streets until the last. Fun! Both days, sat/sun, the 6/12 o8 game barely lasted a couple of hours until it broke. Shame, the Sunday game was fun while it lasted. The player pool for this game must be tiny; it also sucks because the list will have 3 people on it, you'll wait an hour or so, only to play two hours or so until the game breaks. Guess the move is to start the game in the am. Not for me

In my experience this isn't correct. Yes it will take away the opportunity for the biggest pots but it definitely doesn't ruin the game.

Yeah spread limit 300 max bet hasn't prevented people from playing poker.... if you like massive stacks to push ppl around u may need to reframe your game. Also food sucks at aces poker Lakewood. Just confirming edit mini trip report arrived at Aces Sh*thole in the afternoon, got a seat quickly on the 1/3, put my name down on the 6/12 O8. like I mentioned, ppl were playing 1/3 nl like it was 4/8 limit and looking up ppl very lightly. Got no hands, eventually got KK which held up for around 33bb. Then to the 08 table. Usual mix of retirement-aged koreans, black guys, some other random asians and a white guy. Went up, went down, until an inebriated asian lady joined the table and proceeded to raise every kill hand (10/20) and basically raise every hand, and after 1.5 minutes at the table, complained that the men gathered there were no fun. I told her, did you look at the people before you sat down? So she doubled up to like 4-5 hundy after getting very lucky on kill pot raises, then went down to like $100, and then there was an argument about chips crossing the line, that's when I decided to leave +111 When the stuck koreans decide to pick fights with the drunks at midnight, that's a signal to hit the bricks

stopped by aces poker in lakewood for my customary post lure-coursing omaha. got seated quickly, which is a rarity. Bought in a rack, bled off most of it, added on 1/2 rack. During this time the table ran 5-handed for a good period of time, then some people came in and the table was full. Then people left, then a sweet fish ripe for picking came in. I had A8TT in the BB. New person came in, raised preflop on a kill, I call the $20 with a suited Ace. Flop was J Q 9, giving me the bottom end of the straight. New person bet, I raised, he and another person calls. I figured I had blockers with TT. Turn was air, new person bets, I raise, he calls. Heads up. River is a K, giving me broadway. New person bets $20, I raise, he calls. He shows JJ (flopped set), mucks and then leaves to take a 1/3 seat. Prior to leaving he was talking something about catching up despite me out flopping him. No biggie, I appreciated the $$$. I'm now + $75 after being stuck a benjamin. Thank the poker gods for sending the sharks a tasty fish who raised preflop in a 10/20 kill with JJxx.

so far i've played at silver dollar renton - terrible, very glad it got closed half the players were dealers off the clock which is fine normally but there were all super unprofessional, doing lots of things that straddled the line like showing cards to the other dealers, folding rags preflop and then screaming out loud when there's a 337 flop and they yell they would have hit a full shouse, there was definitely had some very open collusion happening in the $120 daily where guys were actively coaching each other whether to call or fold to my raises based on icm etc - was very clear these guys were all buddies and wanted me to bust before any of them there was one old man who never got his bet amount correct when calling and somehow ran so lopsided that the mistake was always in his favor where he put in less than was needed but oddly never made that mistake when betting as well - i point out to the dealer that we have an obvious pattern here and i'm sure he gets away with it a few times each day because they are so lax about it and so many dealers there were horrible and instead they threatened to kick me out if i didn't stop complaining about a reg who couldn't be angle shooting because... "he plays every day" dealers never said or did anything at all to enforce anything aces in caribbean casino - seems decent, like that you can buy in for 500 at 1-3 and can button straddle - only played about 10 hours there over 2-3 sessions - also love that you can call ahead to get a spot on the list - would be my go to place over fortune if i was in that area more often fortune poker - very well run but don't like a lot of their rules, i know a bunch are wa state laws like no dead buttons and betting limits but it sucks not being able to buy in for more than 300 and can't drop any f bombs even when it's "wow this food is so ffing good" - i hate their rake being so high due to promo drop but it definitely brings the players in - however, it's so high that you can't justify playing during a non-high hand period because of that imo - even so, they have about 500k in excess promo funds each year hence the week long high hand every 15 min **** show they have in order to clear it out - don't forget they likely take 10-15% out as an admin fee too so it's not simply just circulating the money - also as limon mentions, stuff like that is bad for the economy, you see tables where half the players have $70 stacks and then win a $500 high hand and pocket the cash - they should definitely be giving that out as chips on the table like other places do, but then that could be against wa state regulations hate that they won't let you call in to get on the list, won't call you when you are up (even if list is super long), but luckily can usually get seated in minutes love that there's always a game going on 24/7 but management is a bunch of rtards - they could have brought in so much more rake during that 500 every 15 minutes week running higher stakes but instead insisting on mostly running 1-3 and 2-4 limit even though they had enough interest and people on lists waiting for larger stakes - i've seen that happen plenty of times in macau where they had similar limits on the amount of tables they could run and whenever they started getting a longer waiting list they did the smart thing and started closing down the lower limit tables and opening up new higher limit ones aces in lynnwood - played once, one player was openly angle shooting every hand and dealers made no attempt to fix it, when i complained other players told me "that's caesar he always does that" as if that's an excuse and eventually i was the one who was told to let it be and leave it alone - otherwise, same rules as the other aces so i like those but unlike carribean casino, this one had homeless people hanging out and smoking something that was neither weed nor cigarettes right outside the entrance so will probably not go here unless logistics make it the obvious choice

it's literally on the same street as fortune maybe 300 yards to the north part of maverick like aces is and they're having tough times and shutting down a lot of places never more than 1-4 tables running and sometimes nothing going on but it raked $1 less than fortune and had a terribad player pool

i think sometime in the last month or two, decided to pop on over recently and saw it was gone when i played at aces lynnwood it came up and since they are all maverick the dealers there said none of the employees were told ahead of time, they found out it was closed by showing up to work and finding the doors locked

oh another thing that i hate about fortune betting line is firm - meaning if you go to cut chips from a stack for a call or raise and don't verbally declare the amount then what you cut doesn't matter, the entire stack is in play, leaving a huge opportunity for anglers to pretend like they didn't mean to put out so much dealers are instructed to not enforce any rules that are actively being broken unless another player at the table requests they intervene - wildest policy i've ever seen

steve420waRegular89 posts
Posted May 29, 2025, 1:48 AM#53

I wasted so many hours at fortune, the betting line was never an issue, not once. Do you have long arms or something RR? as far as 'dealers are instructed to not enforce any rules that are actively being broken unless another player at the table requests they intervene' wouldn't this also apply to F-bombs? Or is that the exception that proves the rule? Again, not something that I ever ran into.

chillrobShark118 posts
Posted May 29, 2025, 5:33 AM#54

The only rule I've ever heard of being dependent on players calling it out is the rule against string bets. While I understand the reason for that policy, I don't like it. I've played a good amount at Fortune and never noticed that any other rules were dependent on the complaints of other players. Hard to imagine the dealer not saying anything if a player was, for instance, actively looking at another player's cards while both were involved in the hand.

rickrollShark207 posts
Posted May 29, 2025, 8:23 AM#55

I don’t recall the circumstances but a handful of times the dealer only acted once a player narc’d and the dealer even said “I’m not allowed to say anything unless a player complains” It’s definitely happened with string bets, unsure about other stuff Betting line has come up a few times, each time I’m sure the person who “forgot” the rule was angling It happened to me once too, I usually don’t cut chips but once I tried to open to by reaching forward with my shuffling stack and dropping 3 chips and dealer insisted entire stack was in play - felt terrible because I had aces and was very glad nobody called so I wouldn’t get accused of funny stuff

ForeShark129 posts
Posted May 29, 2025, 5:09 PM#56

As already stated, not uncommon that player must call string bet. Even that isn’t universal as many rooms now have dealer call that. Another one is SOSA. While dealers can and should enforce this wo prompting many don’t. Those are the only such rules I recall but will say I have never been to Seattle much less played at Fortune.

You're right that Show One Show All is only enforced at most places if someone asks, but it's not actually a rule violation.

The ask h poker link two posts above is a superb summary of the immediate Seattle poker scene. Highly recommended to click on the link to give a true lowdown on the major rooms a short distance from Seattle. Nice work, sir! The post does not cover 30+ miles from Seattle, where Aces Lakewood to the south and Jamestown Saloon to the north are decent alternatives. Jamestown is small, but a room worth checking out in the Marysville area. No more then three tables, though, from what I have seen. I cannot speak to the volume at Aces Lakewood. Does it have similar volume to The Palace? The Olympia area has Fortune Lacey, run by the same company as Fortune, and, thus, is well run. Smaller population base, though. The peninsula/west side of Puget sound has Little Creek in Shelton and all star lanes Silverdale. Bellingham has the Slo Pitch. Not sure if they are beyond 4-8 Omaha though.

Fortune Lacey used to be Hawk's Prairie. A small 1, 2, or three table room. They had good food before Fortune came along. Only played under new ownership once. But I trust Fortune management.

played at carribean yesterday in a hand and villain to my right mumbles a number which sounds like 200 and pushes forward about 200 worth of chips i ask him to repeat himself because i didn't hear what he said - he refuses to say anything and just points to the chips
i repeat that he made a verbal declaration so the chips don't matter and asked for clarification as to what he said dealer is silent and just observing the guy continues to say nothing and i continue to ask what he said, the dealer herself finally says that she didn't hear him say anything and some players chime in saying they think he said 200 but are not sure he then gets very upset and finally says "just look at the chips" i explain that "the chips are meaningless once you make a verbal declaration, if you say $50 but put out $300 it's still a $50 bet, if you say all in but put out $5 it's still all in" he says that's wrong, i call him an idiot he calls the floor and acts like the victim, tries to get me kicked out, floor obviously saw it for what it was and was annoyed they were called over and didn't even issue a warning etc this is what i hate the most about the west coast, this happens a lot here where someone is being a clear ******* and then when called out plays the victim - i think it's because the non-confrontation passivity of the west coast makes it so most *******s don't even realize they are being *******s because they are rarely called out and thus get so indignant on the rare occasions that it happens back during fortune's huge 24/7 promo and wait lists were like 50+ deep a guy busted out on a cooler flopped set on KK all in and villain with AA rivers the ace for set over set - he just sits there steaming at the table, after an orbit i ask him if he's going to buy back in or not and when he says no, i ask him to please get up because there's a lot of people waiting for a seat and he gets really upset with me and of course most of the table then calls me the ahole for asking him to clear a spot

3x i've now seen the dealer award a player a pot that should have been chopped 3x the dealer and player who received the monies insisted they were right and only by having players call the floor and review the footage did they get the pot chopped really basic stuff like a AK55x board and it's A3 v AT at showdown this stuff is incredibly rare in my experience but seemingly quite common out here - also get the feeling a lot of the dealers are pretty inexperienced, especially if playing at a random place that only has 1-3 tables

Sounds shtty, I'm assuming this didn't happen at fortune? Unfortunately I don't think dealers pay have caught up with the rake, especially post pandemic. Still minimum wage plus tips. Pre pandemic dealing round here was a path to home ownership. That'd be impossible now in the Puget sound area. I'm kind of annoyed that I know many dealers with homes, they should keep that shiz to themselves (I own zero real estate) Sent from my Pixel 6 using Tapatalk

I am completely on his side. He never said he wanted to check it down. He said he wanted to play. Just because that is "obvious code" to you doesn't prove it means the same thing to him. You can feel however you like, but he did nothing wrong. He probably got pissy because you accused him of something of which he was innocent. greg, are you unfamiliar with how the old chop or farm high hands discussion goes? you can't openly collude in some places like colorado people say "chop or cheeseburger" in seattle they say "chop or play" this guy is a reg, he knows exactly how that is done so saying "let's play" doesn't indicate whatsoever that he never chops, it indicates "i have a hand that could crack the current high hand and want to see if it runs out" and every single time this happens the sb completes and they check it down - it's not uncommon for the "let's play" person to refund the other player under the table afterwards if they also won the hand so you absolutely need to say "i never chop" or "I don't chop" i don't think you could possibly have the perspective you have if you actually played in these low stakes promo hunting environments where half the pool is there specifically trying to farm high hands

Greg (FossilMan)Regular37 posts

I'm not a reg anywhere. So I don't know what you and the regs there consider standard. But I do assume people mean exactly what they say, and try to never interpret what they say. I have had people say they want to call and run it out. And every time I tell them no. We either always chop, or we always play it out normal. If they don't like that, it is their problem. But I still think you were wrong to assume he knew what was implied, to you, by what he said. It just comes across as being mad that you lost the hand. I doubt you would have made your post if you had won that pot instead.

greg, i have nothing but respect for you, but you're way out of your depth here you don't know how the song and dance is played in these situations it absolutely was an angle, the entire table agreed this is like me disagreeing with what it's like with regards to having media/threads/etc about you after winning the main event because i won a few bar league tournies so clearly it must be the same, winning a poker tourney is a winning a poker tourney amirite? by Greg (FossilMan) m (https://www.twoplustwo.com/post?postId=59015418#post59015418)

Generally agree with Greg. At a min, I would not be popular there. With 6+ players, BB or SB, I am willing to chop with any holding. In fact, I normally won't even know my holding until chop/play is decided. If it is play, I am looking and very unlikely am I limping. And I am not agreeing to check it down. If we play, we play. Including I will bet/raise pre-flop or later with a pretty high frequency. I will also fold SB pre on crappy hands. Also, you get to exercise the option to play 1 time. Once we play, we play all future opportunities. And I still am not checking down. To me, once he says "Let's Play", we are playing. I EXPECT a raise if I limp (but again, I am more likely to fold the SB more than I limp because I expect to play a hand.)

you do though, you would not have run into this situation because you would have not said "let's play this one" but rather "I always play" that guy was also a reg, he definitely gets asked that question a lot washington definitely pretty awful though for low limit poker imo player pool is probably better than national average by a decent clip and since nothing higher than 3-5 runs the good players don't really graduate to higher stakes nor is there much point to playing 3-5 since bets are capped since it looks like i'll be out here long term i think it's time i learned limit because 3 bets max and $300 max wager and 100bb starting stacks with no match and no rules against ratholing (it's common for people to double up, ask for a table change and then go to new table with a much smaller starting stack because they oddly allow this) so it looks like i'll be learning limit since those run pretty regularly and you can usually find a 20/40 or 30/60 game

you gotta understand 1/3 to 1/2 of the table is there specifically to farm high hands - which is 500 and 300 dollars every 15 to 30 min (not worth it they pull a ton out of each pot to pay for it - but it is "worth it" in the sense that the promo drop in seattle is so insanely high that it's madness to play when the high hand promo is not happening - fortune pulls in so much extra each year that they have a week long 24/7 high hand bonanza to clear out the excess promo funds each year once the high hand promo ends the room clears out - it's incredibly popular and also a big reason why large preflop raises are called by the most speculative hands preflop by fish because they have something that "could hit a straight flush" so this is a very common song and dance of both players checking their cards and if someone wants to run it they say let's play otherwise, you make it clear by saying "i always play" or "i always chop" as someone who comes from a non-high hand farming part of the country, i am like you and also accustomed to the standard "establish if we chop or play the first time it comes around and then we repeat that from that point on every time regardless of our hands" - i've definitely looked down at AA in the sb see that it folds around to me and asked if they chop and then happily chopped them up however, every single time this happens in seattle, this doesn't work, because the bb will occasionally want me to complete and we check it down hoping he gets a high hand, so the song and dance is different here the sb will either say "let's play" indicating he has a high hand worthy starting hand and is informing the bb he will complete and check it down or he asks if he wants to chop - where he's indicating he doesn't have one but knows bb may want to run it so he's giving him the option in the event the bb wants to always play it out - the onus is upon him to specify "i never chop" or "i always play" so the sb is aware that we are not simply checking it down and adjusts his preflop strat accordingly instead of blindly completing the bb was a reg, he absolutely knows this and did it to angle shoot

I have played in those kinds of rooms with promo chasers. Frankly those are bad for the environment. Also makes for crappy games but this creates certain opportunities. Just because they want you to limp and check doesn’t mean you accomodate them. When in such rooms, even though I am normally a chop any two person I sometimes go to play any. Including I now raise wide pre from sb. A form of the old punish the limpers strategy. Yes I know it makes one less popular with the reg promo chasers but who cares. I am not there to make friends with them. Now the recs I try to keep happy. Just because they want me to do something doesnt mean I have to and I make it clear I am not going to.

Sorry but Rick is correct. Verbal is binding. Tech what happens first is it but if close verbal will usually control. In this instance it appears clear the verbal happened first so whatever dealer heard is the bet. The real idiot is the dealer for not speaking up immediately when the question was asked. Even if the dealer heard nothing or there was no verbal, dealer should have then counted the chips. Non bettor is entitled to know the exact size of the bet and dealer is arbiter of that

Of course you're right about verbal being binding, but if you think he probably said $200, and he put out about $200 in chips, it seems really silly to hound him about it. Just go with whatever he put out, or ask the dealer to clarify how much is the bet.

First Seattle specifically said that the non-verbal action was controlling. And I have zero issue with the other player saying nothing. I thought I made it clear that the error falls on on the dealer. As soon as Rick ask for clarification of the bet, it is the responsibility of the dealer to clarify. Rick thought he made have said $200. The chips put out were about $200. How is Rick supposed to know how much to put out? Should Rick reach over and count down the chips put out? Try that in some places, esp. underground games and you might seriously regret it. It was also stated that clarification was requested. The dealer did not provide any. That is not on Rick or the other player. It is a dealer not doing his job. Could the query been handled better. Sure. Should Rick call the other player an idiot. No. But I bet you have played enough to see this exact angle played out. Mumble something that sounds like $200 but put out $190 (or $150 or $180 or whatever you think you can get away with. I call. I win, you hope the short stack gets pushed to me. (Since dealer claims heard nothing, this would happen in this case.) I lose and match your $190 and you immediately claim, 'I said $200 so the bet is $200'. Is it a good angle, no, but if even once/twice a night easily a $100 in value a week. Which for some of these low stakes regs is appreciable.

First sentence...The poster Seattle said that verbal would not be binding. I was clarifying why I included he was wrong. It also points out where he insisted Rick was wrong. And yes, dealer should have answered as soon as clarification of the bet was asked. At that point, the dealer is the only one who can actually say. I am not saying that the better can't say but only that what the dealer says is what counts. Assume better actually said $200 and put out $190 but now says he said nothing. The bet is still $200. The dealer maybe did not hear the verbal, in which case dealer should count the chips and announce $190. Point is that no matter what better now says, what dealer says is "it". Ofc, since multiple people claim they thought they heard $200, maybe the dealer corrects herself (I believe dealer was female.) But if dealer remain adamant that nothing was verbalized, then even if the better says $200, the bet is now $190 if that is what the dealer insists.

In other threads here I've seen most people say that it doesn't matter how much the dealer says the bet is. If dealer says it's $100, player calls, then it is discovered that there were two obscured hundred dollar chips, the player actually will have to cover the full $300 bet.

Here people are both announcing bets and just pushing chips in Older wrinkly slightly greasy 70s disco reject commented to the dealer Vu that I wasn't playing hands and that I was waiting until dessert. Both dealer and the table ignored him. There is some occasional great service at Caribbean yes, also a lot of trash waitresses and dealers too that cycle through. Current state of the food? Have had some amazing meals there. The mumbling unclear bet at Fortune rings so many bells. The additional angle is that the other player has to speak up and clarify what the bet is while dealer and betting player give off no tells and sit there. Also weirdly stacked bets are often not broken down and announced by these dealers. Like an unclear stack that could be anywhere 130 to 180 or greens being obscured by red chips. It is beyond just rude. Only specific dealers do this for their regular/preferred players of course and mostly at 3/5. Please let this bother you even more than it does me and further remind you how 300 cap is bingo for 3/5 and move away to Vegas.

I got the bacon cheeseburger at caribbean; about 1/2 the bacon was perfect, the other was solid was a rock. The beef had a lovely char taste; if they had taken the patty off the grill like 30 seconds earlier it would've been amazing. I can only contrast the service to aces lakewood, which has the worst servers I've ever met. One dropped my toast on the floor, apologized, yet didn't replace it; goofus in particular ignored my repeated requests for a diet; gallant at caribeean gave me a diet right after placing my order. Also they have mannys on tap, the happy hour deal is decent. I'm very curious as to the prime rib deal on Fridays, might be worth the trip for a lark. people may have gotten shadier at Fortune since I stopped playing there, no idea. edit: Note to self, next time some jagoff makes 'he doesn't play hands' nonsense, either say: a) I'm sorry sir, are these your chips? The prime rib sounds amazing, please report back when you’ve had a chance to try it? Have always loved Carribean’s food. Sometimes I show up from out of town and the food is poorly prepared and the waitresses disappear for 40 min chatting away at the bar because management has been lax for years. Not to the level of your hilarious story of dropping toast on the floor and not re- making it rude just lol but annoying. One longtime waitress there is professional and great and also absolutely beautiful and I dream of her majesty and I think she’s subtly the only reason I want to eat there anymore. Last time I took the beautiful drive up to Marysville and found the 1/3 $500 cap game deep stacked and full of action at Jamestown and also the kitchen quite good. However I hate rooms where dealers can grind after shifts, and you tip a dealer generously for hours and then after his shift he sits down with a full rack of $500 and tries to take your money. Also why I hate playing in a certain Portland room. I get that forced propping sucks huge for them when they have to do that and sit in an awful game to keep it a float, they deserve a chance to play in good games too if they are forced to play, but I don’t really enjoy playing with employees. In other threads here I've seen most people say that it doesn't matter how much the dealer says the bet is. If dealer says it's $100, player calls, then it is discovered that there were two obscured hundred dollar chips, the player actually will have to cover the full $300 bet.

Yes, very true for an All in. But in this case the bet is either a) what the dealer says he heard the better say. (Hidden chips mean nothing) b) what the dealer counts of the stacks put forward. (Tech I guess there could be hidden chips, esp is the dealer doesn't actually break down and count the physical bet. But that is a real stretch with the stacks bet pushed forward.) The only realistic way I can see that the dealer statement would not matter is if the dealer declared the verbal bet exceeded what the better had on the table. But that doesn't seem to apply in this case.

Thanks for the tip on the Jamestown Saloon! Menu looks good, chowder, home made chicken tendies, etc. I wonder if they offer a poker discount on food? I heard of the place, and actually drive past there a few times a year, as I have kin in the Stanwood area. And as someone who's looking to purchase a home this year , that adds a positive for that area! Checking their calendar, they have an O8 tourney every Thursday at 11am?!?!? Karaoke, DJ, and live music! What am I waiting for?!?!?

Went to play at fortune as it was on my way back from but lines were up the wazoo and no high hand which makes the promo drop incredibly painful rake so I called up Ace’s Mountlake and they have high hands until midnight and that’s General area where I’m going after anyway I hate the high hand promo but it’s insane to play that $4 promo drop if you basically need a royal to get any of it back so no thanks One of the weirdest things about this area is everyone seems to be ok with it and nobody thinks $4 promo drop is either rake or bad - when I explain that it doesn’t just all go back because they take a 10% admin fee and pay in cash not chips I’m told I’m wrong until the dealer confirms (no we do take 10% because the state mandates it)

State regulations: See this pile of money over here? You can have some, and you don't really have to do anything to deserve it, but you can only take up to 10%. Cardroom: 10%?! No, that's too much. We'll only take 5%, that's plenty. State regulations: Are you sure? It's free money. You don't even have to pay taxes on it because it's not revenue. Cardroom: We really like our customers and want to return as much of their money to them as possible. 5% will be just fine.

People who work in the poker trenches have often never read the WAC.. Nor do they understand why a rule is used... That's up to crusty old dudes who remember... 😉 I don't hold it against them but it does get annoying from time to time when they want to talk about their knowledge of poker. Or make a bad ruling cause it feels better. (my favorite). Facilitators of abstraction, should be asking more questions rather than giving answers which have no basis... And they actually have no knowledge for... Obviously. As far as the not taking 10% the only point I make is that most poker players are gambling... So would you rather play the slot that pays 95% or 90% back to the players... Poker players used to be sort of a cut above other gamblers, maybe I'm wrong-but I'm not so sure anymore... Overall taking less could be a selling point for an upstart business... Maybe not in Seattle where things are ridiculously expensive, but certainly in smaller markets over at the middle and eastern parts of the state. That's more than 2 cents... So I'm going to **** off to obscurity. 😉

I won the 470 at Caribbean for 7.5K (3 way chop) and was expecting a W2-G. I itemize everything. I didn't pay attention and when I got home I saw they gave me a 1099-Misc. I am reading it's harder to justify deducting gambling loss from a 1099-MISC than a W2-G. Anyone else run into this? Will they redo the forms 2 weeks later?

ForeShark129 posts

There are rules specific rules casinos should follow for 1099 vs W2G. I assume those were followed correctly. But the situation is complicated and there are details not shared. I presume this was a sanctioned chop and not a private deal. Since the net prize you recieved was below $5000 which is the threshold that requires a W2G, the 1099misc might be correct. Since total was over the $5000 threshold, something must be reported to IRS. But each winner is under the W2G threshold. Thus the de is ion to issue 1099. Casino might be wrong but unless you have definitive ruling or similar to support you the odds they retract 1099 and issue W2G are very slim. The odds the do i5 for only one of the three are virtually nil..

6/12 O8 with 5/10 KILL REPORT HOURS PLAYED - between 2-10p Sat/Sun. Table was mostly full. All your usual suspects. Old friend M bought in for $800 and lost most of it. One gent scooped a $600 pot, only to lose all of that later. Several players chanting "**** that ****" later in the night with the dealer leading Italian grinder sandwich was served open faced and toasted, which was unnecessary. Not horrible. Comped, which is nice! RESULT +705 I may have to start coming down here more regularly. Took a while for the table to start on Sunday, both days tables broke around 9-10 Service was much improved, tipping $2 a round probably helped. kept my diet full!

Whoops 10/20 kill. Makes for spicy action, but kills the table faster That $600 scooper was capped preflop and went to the river, no low Also interesting was that one or two light beers for the seniors at the table really loosens them up. Might be worth it to buy a round for the table

7 CEDARS CASINO $300 POKER TOURNEY LUNCH BUFFET AUGUST 2025 TRIP REPORT

  • like 3 hot food stations
  • beef stroganoff. old country buffet quality. mushy noodles. underseasoned but good for the senior palette i'm guessing. no pepper whatsoever -veggies. boiled to buffet tenderness
  • rice or something? maybe it was a salad? breads This dish was chosen because it has mushrooms, and the event was 60's themed IIRC, and therefore because hippies ate mushrooms as drugs, the person in charge then related that to the beef stroggy. That being said, I don't think the finsihed product actually had mushrooms I'm not making this up, I overhead the convo. for breakdast, cookies were served.

One old man had 76 on an 75x board. he went all in apparently vs 55, a flopped set. two weekend total: +1223 LESSONS LEARNED:

  • Always keep your stack maxed at 300
  • if there are too many tight players at your table, request a change
  • slowplay flopped quads
  • if you're aces get cracked or you get a bad beat, rebuy and move on. don't snap quit. there will be plenty of opportunities to get paid from all the droolers

steve, in all seriousness you need to drop this hit n run mentality

Good advice! If I hit and run its impossible to have one of those +2k session, like two dudes at table #1 did. The big mistake was not smoking for the last session. I start to get impatient and play worse as a result, when all I need to do if play ABC poker + flop the nuts and trap people. I have unmedicated ADD (as you all may be able to tell) and I'd rather not be one of those robots wearing headphones, but the a good portion of the players there are lol bad and are simply gambling. Also, I haven't played 1/3 in 5+ years so I'm a wee bit rusty Thanks for reading, appreciate it edit: and as a side note, financially the last two years have been the best of my entire life, so tripping over a couple hundy is rediculous.

Action is good, and only one person seemed to pay any attention to my play style, as boring as it is Lots of new faces each session, as opposed to Fortune which had way more regs IMO (haven't been there in years, may have changed) Id say it feels more like a home game at times They have at least two edible items, the bacon cheese and wings. Left shortly thereafter into the worst Seattle traffic I've experienced! Two lans closed on SB I5 plus the rain and the protests, holy crap. Why not play more? These reasons:

  • Tripling up in the high variance PLO game is a win in itself, especially after not playing it since the pandemic
  • I have video games I'm playing. I don't need to play poker all night
  • My dog is waiting for me in the car +432

7 session result +2488 EDIT: The promos at Aces MLT are strictly worse than Lakewood. Lakewood: $250 high hand every half hour, $499 for hhs on following days until Thursday MLT: $200/100 hh every hour, $499 is only good on Sat/Sun When the heat kicks on you can smell ozone in the air Toilets have handles like my apartment. Auto flush? heck no A review from Brian Chen on google: 3 months ago Aces Poker is honestly one of the worst poker rooms I’ve played in. The room is packed with old-school nits, most of them well over 50, just sitting around waiting for AA or KK. I’ve played in California and Vegas before, and I have to say—Seattle’s poker scene is on a different (and disappointing) level. It’s all limp-callers and passive nits here, and Aces is the peak of that style.

There’s no real action at the table. No one plays creatively, no one’s taking spots—it’s like they’re allergic to the idea of a “squid game” hand. The vibe is stiff, and if any of these old guys lose a hand, they get salty; if they win, they start showing off. It’s not fun poker—it’s just waiting and folding.

On top of that, the dealers are mediocre at best and often have bad attitudes. Honestly, if you’re looking for a dynamic, action-filled poker environment, this is not the place.

I don't agree with Brian. The first table only had two people over 50, and one of them paid off the guy who was the aggressor with the set in PLO in the story above to the tune of $300+ with KQ vs AK.

The contrast between the Lakewood and Lynnwood is actually ridiculous. Lakewood was formerly a casino with a dance club. It was high ceilings, great lighting, easy parking. Right off I5. • I'm no longer playing the O8 game because the regs are dicks, as warned to me earlier in this thread. one of them actually said he didn't want to play with these people.
  • the 60+ asian lady I mentioned that kept rebuying for $100 each prior days was literally hovering over the table waiting for her seat. She then tripled up and cashed out. What a c***.
  • lost $200 at 08, got to almost even at 1/3, then went all in preflop AA vs 99, I lost final result -300; Aces only win 80% of the time edit lol at the spellchecker in my previous post the burger is some sort of textured meat / vegetable protein, not 100% beef. I'm 75% sure I'll be heading down to little creek for the O8 tourney and cash games this weekend, not sure if I'll do one or two nights.

() Get a room for thursday nite, check out at 11am for the noon tourney. Or, be a baller and go two nights. $431 total Will be interesting to see who all is there. Word is the games are good. Just need to call tmmw to confirm the tourney is this friday. $431 for two nights. Maybe I can give them some action at the casino and see what offers I get, I haven't been to there in over 10 years

Does anyone have any idea to see their live games?

noice RR! Their app situation is wierd. For aces lakewood, I did the code thing and get on the list thru their website. Supposedly there is a separate app for Lakewood but good luck figuring it out Thanks for the reminder, I need to install their app on me new phone. Regarding dead thread status, try going back a couple hundred pages. We were talking about 15/30 O8 at the muck, this new room called fortune, diamond lil's potentially absconding with player funds, it's wild. Lots of people no longer around Seattle poker is alive but nothing like it was even 8 years ago. All the tribal rooms gone; I have vivid memories of squeezing into the tiny room at snoqualmie. BUT TO THE NOW Booked a night at the little creek this Friday. I'll drive in early for the noon $200 + 20 tourney, play the evening O8 game, and probably spread some cash around in the casino to see if I get any offers. I booked this sweet deal where if you donate four cans of food you get..... $7 off. LOL. I booked it via phone, imagine that. It doesn't look like any games are running now, on a Tuesday.

An unbalanced system where the running count starts higher than 0 based on the number of decks (like 24 for a 6 deck shoe). It includes 7's as a +1 count. It is easier to implement because you use the running count directly not the true count. So you avoid estimating remaining decks and that conversion of RC to TC.

LITTLE CREEK CASINO REPORT 10/2025 Poker room is on the main floor. Small, clean nonsmoking casino. Free pepsi products. Easy to get in and out of. Very clean bathrooms, lots of security roaming about. $200 O8 tourny had 19 entrants. It was a pretty lame experience. Average age probably 62. Lady next to me had a vpip of like 85%, and somehow always managed to hit her emergency low or random suckout. meanwhile I was card dead. The dynamics of the game really change the 3/4th blind increase. People were chasing and giving the lady chips for no reason that I could tell Top 3 payout which sucks IMO. Forgot to do the math on the vig. first was like 1600 Turns out the 4/8 O8 runs on sunday, GDI. Floor said it was a spicy game . There was no games running late friday night, sat am had a miserable looking 4/8 hold em. I think they are mainly a tournament room, which is a shame because the poker room is nicely setup. Being only 20 minutes or so away from Fortune Lacey must be hard to compete with, as I doubt they're drawing many players from f'ing Shelton. Honestly I prefer Fortune Lacey, as they actually staff their pit games during the day and offer top notch foods. Hotel room was fine. I disliked the showerhead, it was square. Hot tub was not very hot, and had enough foam in it to start a party. They seriously need to invest in a protein skimmer. Tried a pacific and kumamoto oyster at the bar. The latter was great, clean taste, mildly briny. The pacific was a bit funkier but they gave a couple fun sauces to take the edge off. I'm new to eating oysters $15 burger was the definition of mediocre casino burg So poker is a bust, switched to table games. craps - bj - uth - face up pai gow - 3 card poker. The tables weren't fully staffed; the 3 card poker never ran, for example. -$50 at UTH, I hate this game now Switched to face up pai gow on the advice on a youtube video regarding easy, low house edge pit games. Never played this game before. +100 no side bets played. Fun people to play with, and it's slow-paced. I played $20/hand, and was the good luck the table needed. Saturday, no poker worth playing, pai gow wasn't open. I earned 232 tier credits; I estimate I played 10 minutes of UTH $5/hand, and 2 hours of pai gow at $20/hand... which was like 11 hands. People just love to slow roll their cards From my limited research, you need 2500TC to qualify for anything useful. Went to check out Fortune Casino Lacey. It's oddly located. Two 1/3 games going. $100 hh (no qualifier per hour), and apparently food as good as Fortune Renton. However, you can drive 15 minutes or whatever north to Aces, which has a $250 hh/half hour. Infinitely worse food, but its "free." Won $20 playing pai gow again, tipped the dealer a redbird and bounced. Went to aces lakewood where a fun thing happened. In the O8 game I had A3TT on the button and called out "chop block" and raised. BB called. Flop was TTx lol. I gave the BB his 6 bucks back and took the hh for another +75. Game died at like 6pm, after running all night Friday apparently overall result gambling -70ish SECRET S420 TIP: The tribal gas station also sells liquor, which is unusual. They also offer all your fried gas station favorites. Their chicken tendies were kind of pricy, $9 for two + a couple of sides. The fry guy was sweaty and delivering the goods, but was falling behind because as of 11am maybe 1/2 of the counter was stocked. Couldn't get the combo due to lack of sides. They also offer very expensive smoked salmon and oyster products.

Thanks GD! Aye, on the main floor real close to the main entrances, so great exposure. The old way to the second floor doesn't exist anymore, there's a sports bar there now. The clerk who printed my players card noted my last interaction was in 2014. ALERT: Keep an eagle eye on your bets in the pit. In the 2-3 hours I played the dealers f'd up three times. One was not paying out a bonus, others were not reading hands properly. Sometimes this can be in your favor, but not this time. 1/3 travelers who wear blazers to the cardroom, do you wear a corny jacket because that’s what people do in the distinguished UK? Or you just fancy yourself a gentleman who dresses like no one else around? Do you report your poker winnings as federal taxable income? Obviously not right. You don’t have a job and don’t pay taxes and are on some sort of visa? Or you’re a citizen and do pay your taxes? If someone were to ring my local 1/3 games and be on a visa and not pay their taxes, I would happily report them to ICE online.

There is no edge in limit especially after rake. In no-limit you can do things like use position, determine your opponents range then bluff them to win big pots, over bet or get it all in over streets when you know you have the best hand, and raise enough to limit the field down to say one player rather than 3+ way where equities run close with any cards. There is no skill in limit other than some folding spots for like one bet, some small min-raise for value spots for again like one bet where it’s iffy if just calling down is -ev or not. Love the exciting reports and hotel updates but talking **** about other players losing at limit is dumb. by steve420wa m (https://www.twoplustwo.com/post?postId=59143368#post59143368)

As someone who used to care about fashion, but who is a fan of history, the fact that blazers have been extinct as a mens wear item for probably 30+ years, is interesting. But exist in thrift stores, and have utility: A blazer is a distinct type of lightweight sports jacket, traditionally made of navy or striped wool or linen. It is typically characterised by metal buttons on the front and sleeves. In terms of formality within Western dress codes, a blazer has a dressier appearance than other sports jackets, yet is seen as less formal than a suit jacket. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blazer A modern blazer lol at the price:

My apologies if I was a bit aggressive in my prior post. Interesting to hear people talking about our little poker rooms. My ADD kicked in once they started talking about the turn. Paraphrasing: "...So you had two overcards and a nut flush draw on the flop. Ace comes on the turn, that... improves your hand, does it not?" OP did mention tech money, but it doesn't explain how much money is splashing around. Though the immediate area around caribbean looks crappy, drive 5 minutes in any directions and the houses start going in the 1-2 mil range, easy. $300 ain't crap to these people. Though there are some condos in the area that seem affordable, the but HOA fees are lol. Last time I was at caribbean, a whale type guy who used to play at fortune easily donked off 1000s that night at the 1/3 game. I recognized him because he gained an easy 200+ lbs during the demic. For Aces Lakewood, the crowd is diverse (exception: the O8 game), military, and a fair amount of kids under 21, retired people. I think the 3/5 game might be pretty good, one of the whales from that game was on a 1/3 table just totally d*cking around

Maybe perhaps in the prehistoric area some players would fold the river to bluffs? with middle pair getting 17-1 because they didn’t know better or play hands pre like J7 and you’d outkick their top pair, or maybe the winners then were just on the right side of variance over the course of several years, like the thousands of slot and blackjack and video poker gamblers who even file taxes professionally for years until their variance evens out. Ah yes that’s what it is. You of course mention zero examples of a winning strategy in limit other than telling me to believe people can win “because they did.” Thanks for getting upset though. At least I win in this circle of anger by getting a main event champ angry. Sounds like you are not a visa traveler from Malta and pay taxes so great, my huge bad. Definitely paying too much attention to your posts it’s true. Seattle poker is def not where poker goes to die which is why I’m jealous. Yes as brought up prior by the well dressed bankroll protector, rake is something like $9 = $6 + 3 a hand at Fortune and when there is no promo during weekend evening hours, playing single raised pots at 1/3 is ridiculous with $9 taken on the flop. There has been good 3/5 action for a while there during evenings with 4-5 tables common.

So you're saying ppl up north at Aces aren't calling $50 pf with 67? There was a distinct dank piss urinal smell at table 2 down south when they opened the employee doors. Service slightly improved. Edible food at aces south: BBQ burger Deep fried eggrolls The teriyaki chicken looks edible but basic AF, think microwave quality Fries maybe the soups? Bahn mis might be worth a try, they seemed to be pretty big

Great link! I'm no anthropologist, but I reckon the game may be different in the south because:

  • more transient population
  • more diverse. military. but old money is there
  • old people xposed to the above start to play fancy b/c most people are donkeys or they are bored
  • more people there to play as opposed to waiting for KK+. more working class people for whom weekend poker is their night out I'm officially wishing an FU to the 6/12 O8 game. Someone earlier posted that they regs are there to pass money to each other, until they die. That is true; but even if there are only 3 regs on the table, the game moves so slowly they have an outsized effect. In instance of a truly annoying old POS player, they are twice as annoying bc they have 4 cards to look at and slow the game down. In effect, the game becomes an instance of chasing the $75 hh. Then you also have players who, despite waiting 5+ hours to join the game, refuse to buy the button and/or take the full 20 minute dinner break, which kills the game

Does anyone have any contact information for management at Fortune. They seem to do a great job of obscuring the ownership and contact info. Nothing negative, just need to get hold of someone there beyond floor staff.

Real players. Deep discussions. Better poker.poker.forum
