I just recently rejoined Netflix and was pleased to see they have added a "Watch Instantly" feature where you can stream a movie over the internet. The selection of movies/shows is subpar, but it's free baby! Well, free as in no extra charge. You can watch 1 hour for every dollar/month your subscription is and it doesn't affect your queued/shipped movies at all. Minuses are that you have to be running Windows and Internet Explorer, but the quality is great! I have a garbage laptop, but it looks the same as a DVD to me and it hasn't skipped/paused/hiccuped once so far.

Bitconned on Netflix is great. 1.5 hour documentary about some guys that created a crypto, wallet and fake debit card/app (Centra Tech), used random pic for CEO on website, etc. So much crazy stuff happens.

Dave Chappelle: The Dreamer is on Netflix now. Did not disappoint.

I haven’t really enjoyed his specials in awhile. I feel like him & a lot of Rogan’s crew just complain about cancel culture. I find it as tired as airplane humor. I want jokes/funny stories not to be lectured at. Maybe his new one is better, but that’s the vibe I got from his recent stuff.

Reacher S2 release schedule, for those of us waiting impatiently for the next episode... Reacher Season 2, Episode 5: Thursday, December 28 at 8:00 p.m. ET Reacher Season 2, Episode 6: Thursday, January 4 at 8:00 p.m. ET Reacher Season 2, Episode 7: Thursday, January 11 at 8:00 p.m. ET Reacher Season 2, Episode 8: Thursday, January 18 at 8:00 p.m. ET

I'm waiting impatiently for all episodes to be in so I can binge it. I just can't watch stuff weekly anymore. I lose interest or forget about it. If I can't watch it all now I am not interested. Loved season one of this and really want to see the new season.

I remember watching a Star Trek - The Next Generation episode titled "Darmok" in which Picard is stranded on a planet with another person. Picard ends up telling the other person an ancient Mesopotamian myth about Gilgamesh and Enkidu. Those two names somehow stuck with me after that episode. Years later, I use to read a cryptocurrency web page touting the seemingly endless creation of new crap coins. I nearly fell out of my chair laughing when one day I saw a Gilgamesh crap coin and a Enkidu crap coin. There were dudes continuously rolling out new crap coins hoping something moons out of dumb luck or false hype.

I stopped watching A Murder at the End of the World after 3 or 4 episodes, but after seeing ads for it at the end of commercial breaks while watching Fargo and seeing reviews ranging from great to boring decided to give another go. I just finished it, and I am going with boring, if you never watched this, you will have missed nothing. It could have been better, but just too drawn out.

Also finished Obliterated on Netflix, It's a solid 7 for mindless entertainment. Nothing special .

I finished Slow Horses, it's good, I don't like as much as some on here, but it's good. It's renewed for 2 more seasons.

Slow Horses S3 was fine. Some really good high spots (usually when Gary Oldman was on screen) undermined by shoot outs and action sequences that were as dumb as something you'd see in The Expendables, without the irony.

Season 3 is a bit simpler?, with fewer twist/turns type things and more set action pieces that it could easily lose. Still a cut well above. If you are just starting the series, it's a rare treat. Enjoy.

Watched the first 2 episodes of The Brothers Sun on Netflix. It's good. Only part of it is foreign language. It's Brad Falchuk on his own without Ryan Murphy. No sign of gay/trans yet, I guess that is all Murphy.

+1 This is essentially what I was about to write. I'll watch anything with Gary Oldman. He has been around a long time with a lot of films under his belt. Some films were hits and some were straight up bad, but the good was real good right from the beginning like "Leon: The Professional" and a damn good performance in "State of Grace" with Sean Penn and Ed Harris almost 35 damn years ago.

Yeah I felt like the plot was silly (and lol at the entire sequence in the records building, which I think took 2 full episodes). I also felt like it needed more of Oldman and Jackson Lamb, felt like almost a cameo for him this season. That being said it's still enjoyable entertainment.

His smugness came across as unbelievably annoying. He has no head for business, and he has no intelligence, but he did find the infinite money glitch - just start some business with partners, steal everything you can from it, then rat them out and get off scot-free. Did catch a few references to him dropping tons playing poker and at the casino, hopefully some people here benefited.

Slow Horses took a steady dive throughout S3. Oldman was carrying the show entirely by himself. If there's a season 4 I'm not sure if I'll bother watching. For anyone who hasn't seen it, I still think the first 2 seasons were great and highly recommend.

I'm just three episodes in. I stopped so I can just binge them all together instead of waiting each week. But I mostly agree with your sentiment. Season 3 plot is all over the place and not nearly as good as 1 or 2, BUT Gary Oldman is so good I'll watch every Slow Horses episode they put out as long as he's on it. The actress who plays Tearney, the actor who plays Duffy and the other guy who's supposed to be a hard, as well as the gambling addict/coke addict duo are laughably bad and cringe. I'm def in for the rest of season 3 though and whatever else they put out as long as Jackson Lamb and Taverner are out here styling Spoiler Show

Really in for the rest because they killed off Webb who I couldn't take much more off and don't know if I could have finished the series if he was dominating screen time

Totems on Amazon Prime. Found this one just browsing the app. I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere. I've only watched two episodes but I think it's solid. Cold War spy thriller set in the 60's. Probably a French production.

I started this while I waited for Slow Horses to finish and I'm loving it so. 4 episodes in and I'm definitely finishing this before Slow Horses, even though Slow Horses is done now. Great rec that I would never have found or given a chance otherwise. Thanks for that 👍

Tonight 6pm PST Criminal Record - Apple (first 2 episodes) Echo - Disney/Hulu (All 5 episodes) Friday Killers of the Flower Moon - Apple (possibly Thursday night) Lift movie - Netflix Sunday True Detective - duh Monsieur Spade - AMC

Slow Horses looks like they only bring Oldman in for a day or two to shoot some cameos then finish the season with the rest of the cast. He is great in limited screen time but the plot lines and writers are pretty weak, the 'action' sequences are laughable. Feels like it wanted to be much more but its really formulaic. Fans of shows like The Blacklist will probably love it until the weak plotlines wear them down.

Started on this but gave up about 3 episodes in. Can't say its bad it just didn't compel us to start a new episode after one ended. Wife didn't care for it and she will watch damn near any procedural series set in Europe for the scenery alone. Anyone interested in a French spy series should pivot to Le Bureau. I think its still on AMC+

Wife and I liked the new Bribiglia special. Clean humor can be pretty relaxing when it’s funny. Has some heart too. Pretty sure the Untold docs have come up in this thread but worth a watch for sports fans. I’d probably rank them as: Manti Teo, Johnny Manziel, Trash Pandas, then And1. Liked them all.

Through 8 episodes of fargo s5 and it's surprisingly good given that the writers set themselves the task of writing a script where every woman is a badass and every man is either despicable or pathetic. It could have been far better if they'd been allowed to add some nuance but i guess that wasn't acceptable.

Just finished Killers of the Flower Moon. It was good but not that good, especially for 3.5 hours. lol Lift on Netflix sucks. Finished most of Echo, liking it so far and I am not a big MCU fan. Criminal record is good so far. I am liking the new Ted series on Peacock. Finished Monarch, I never really liked it, not sure why I kept watching. lol

I watched ep.1 when it came out and didn't really like it and quit the series. Then last week I decided to binge episodes 2-9 and while not great, I did kinda like story threads that were developing and some of the random moments of awkwardness. For me, the finale was terrible though and now I'm wishing I had just left it alone after ep. 1.

Over the last several days I binge re-watched The Haunting of Hill House. It was a nice trip down memory lane after recently watching The Fall of the House of Usher. The next stop is revisiting Midnight Mass. I agree with several in this thread that group is probably the best trifecta from Mike Flanagan.

I am liking the new Ted series on Peacock.

It’s not nearly as bad as I thought it would be, but after 3 episodes, I’m annoyed that there’s no “series” in this “mini-series”. It’s just a season 1 if there ends up being a 2nd. The lack of an actual arc knocks it down an additional * or 2.

This was good. I also enjoy short films. And as I was watching I kept thinking that I know that voice of the narrator, which was Tim Blake Nelson. A couple of years back I saw a trailer of a low budget film with Tim Blake Nelson called "Old Henry" but I never did end up seeing it. Has anyone seen the film "Old Henry" with an opinion on if it is work a bag of popcorn?
