It's a full-blown performance by Colin Farrell as a gambling (https://www.casino.us/)- and alcohol-obsessed aristocrat who finds himself in trouble after trouble in Macau's criminal underworld.First, he's being stalked by a slightly eccentric woman who knows completely confidential secrets from Doyle's past. Second, a sneering old woman nicknamed Granny (Dinny Yip) is constantly sitting at a casino table, so unbeatable at baccarat (https://www.casino.us/baccarat/) that hapless players are constantly being thrown out of the windows of the local skyscrapers. Doyle is convinced that if he can beat Granny, all his problems will be solved. Especially since Dao Ming (Fala Chen), who works at the same casino, clearly favors him. https://lenta.ru/articles/2025/10/30/smallplayer/

“Doyle believes that defeating Granny will resolve all his problems.”

I expect we'll discover he's mistaken!

I enjoyed the movie; it explores human relationships, touching on death and life, joy and disillusionment.

Seen this the other day on Netflix I believe it was....didn't watch it as the wife and I were looking for a movie and she wasn't feeling it. I may give it a I watch today while she's at work. Any good? Any reviews? No spoilers please.

Cheers!!!

Honestly, Colin Farrell nailed the “disaster aristocrat spiraling through Macau” vibe — even if the movie started so slow I thought I might get thrown out of a skyscraper before the plot kicked in. But once Granny started wiping the floor with everyone at the baccarat table, I was fully invested.
