You know the sports series "Outside the Lines"? I figured I'd start a thread that shows the people behind the stacks. Outside the Stacks. A couple pics from my Saturday game. I prepared 2 pounds of steak tips and made a low sauce chili (I know beans mean its not real chili but just roll with this). I was doing okay until about 6am, when Frank (Asian guy) and I played heads up PLO and this hand happened:

We get it all in, run it 2x. 7K first board, 6x second board for his nutty straight. The good news is that he owns a dry cleaning business and he took several garments of mine until we meet again next week. So, $1400 pot but I'm getting dry cleaning, so I have that going for me. Went to bed, woke up at 9am, zombied out all day. PCA chips used, broke open the decks I bought from HQ at Courages DCS 3 last year. Beat of the night was my poor nephew who just turned 21 (he's the skinny kid at the far end of the table). He has KK on a x222x board, jams the river and I show A2 for him to go batshit crazy. He plays bad and texted me the next day that he got his paycheck and wants to play again lol. His father, to his right, is my brother and I had to put the smack down that he can't play here anymore. I can't contribute to raising young degenerates in the family.

Guy in red shirt is me with SOCKS aka JoseRijo to my right, whom I made a terribad bluff to during the night. To the left of Frank is IBetOnEverything. We did not play dirty socks once all night. Mostly holdem with some PLO later.

It's a .25/.50 game uncapped. Usually we have 2 tables, one circus and one for super casual player. Some of the usual suspects (Berg, Chicken, GrumpCatMalaka) couldn't make it and some people bailed last minute so we had one table that wasn't too aggro. I swear no one was up or down more than $100 for many hours so it played casual. Once everyone was gone Frank and I played bigger (1/2).

Good idea for thread. Like the setup, expected basement. Frank got you in a cooler.

The entire post and beam wood was cured in a building for 9 months after it was cut before installation. It looks like that but its extremely structurally sound. I've had 4 couples simultaneously sex swinging on there and it doesn't even budge. Okay maybe not but its solid. The beam itself does not support all, as its connected to a Y structure that connects the other beams. That is not official structure engineering talk.

I drank that shit when it was all I could afford and I embraced the "quantity over quality" philosophy. Fuck that.

I've recently have gotten into a few of the IPA's. I like Bell's Two Hearted Ale, Goose Island Endless IPA, or even Sam Adams Rebel IPA. Don't get me wrong. I won't turn down a solid Pale Ale either (just not into wheat beers, but again, I won't turn down a good one).

Actually, my preferred drink is Don Julio "Anejo". That just doesn't fit my budget to drink on a regular basis (or even semi regular basis, lol).

We are lucky enough to have the toughest tourneys around .. we run once every two weeks with a $ 3,000 GTD for first.... As you can tell by the pictures the line up speaks for itself. Yes... thats Greg Raymer and Soheill Shamseddin ...in case you were born on Jupiter look them up.. Also Chris Edwards, and Milan Dragic .. all on the hendon mob database... Collectively we have over 12 million in tourney winnings at our game on a fairly consistent basis.... if you wanna get better this is the place for sure to cut your teeth...

Right on KIRCH ..... my wife went there actually... She is a Lynchburg native .. thanks for the compliment. We typically do a $ 250 + 30 buy in two table max so 20 players to win $ 3k. We pay the top 3 spots s0 3k 1st $1500 2nd and $500 3rd then the cash begins once we get down to one table... We have had the game for a number of years and it has been good times... I have educated anybody that will listen about chips as I am a professed chip nerd/snob etc...and have been able to convert players into the hobby as well... though my hobby is now borderline obsession :)

The game is in NC ... Mr Tree..... Excited to make the trek to your stomping grounds this spring to check out your place.. Looks spectacular.. By the way .. do guys bring some of there sets to show while there? I will be coming with "After the Fact" - look forward to making the road trip happen

Meridian.... we are 5 hours or so in each direction from Harrahs Cherokee and Maryland Live so the mid way point in NC where I live so there is a good deal of good homes games around .... which means all kinds of great chip sets too... I think I have sold six or seven sets to the local games around.... as much as I would have liked to have kept them all its so nice to know where they are if I ever want to play. :)

From last nights 14 person (supposed to be 16 but a few no shows WITHOUT notice). Was a great night. I bought in for $50 and cashed out $165. Modest take. The forefront table is the bumper pool/poker/dining table I bought a month ago. LOVE IT but not the best to play poker on. Very hard surface.

Id love for people to bring sets to show off. AfterTheFact had told me he had a friend coming with him but didn't realize it was you.

Probably won't show any faces in order to protect the innocent and those on wanted lists, but I will try and add to this thread weekly with a different chip set (approx 12 in rotation).

The game: running for approx. 7-8 years with a solid core of regs. Average week we will have 8-10 players turn up out of a pool of around 20. Started out as a weekly tournament but quickly morphed into a 1/2 NL cash game. It now plays as 1/2 NL up to midnight then dealers choice with ANY game welcome.

Apologies for the crappy cell phone pics but better than nothing I guess. Most Pics will be taken early in the night as I tend to forget as the game gets later.

Player 1 flops the set of deuces and gets it in. players 2 calls with the AA. No prizes for guessing what hit the river:

Hosts stack in the foreground - waved most of it goodbye about 3 hrs later!

Player 2 would call the all-in and roll AQ for the win.

Post 1am Dealers choice game underway. Game plays pretty loose (we recently had a 3 handed $1300 pot in a game of Blind Mans Bluff) and plenty of laughs are had - slow-rolling encouraged on occasion also.

Playing group favorite 4-5 handed game: We simply call it nine. Think SOHE on steroids.

Nine cards each (no burn flop 5 handed) make the following 3 hands and cap it with a chip: NL, 3 Card Omaha, Omaha. Each hand is trying to win a 3rd of the pot. Obviously you want 2/3 or a scoop which is hard. Interesting point in this game is having second nuts in two places and potting it. Its all about where the cards are set. Iv'e seen the craziest stuff ever in this game.

A variation sometimes called is play it as dealt so you set the hands in the order the cards arrive. Makes for less nutty hands and possibly even more action if players think they can get 2/3 or a scoop.

Same hand during the showdown: All 3 stacks in this pic went in on the river.

AK takes the NL hand, flush wins 3 card Omaha, flush wins Omaha. 3 way chop.

As previously stated I am pretty crap at remembering to take photos so only a few this week and it was also a pretty quiet night with only 6 players for various reasons. .

These chips are without a doubt one of the groups favorite. When BCC got it right, they really did hit it out of the park. These chips are some of the best ever IMO and easily compare with any other chip out there.

Initial buy-in stacks/bank:

Yes sometimes we use $2 chips in a 1/2 game because why not!

Next Week: New felt (overdue) Stardust Tournament chips and event 5 of a 30k Satellite series.

ordinarily i could never bring myself to like a post that features $2 chips in play in a $1/2 game, but those chips are so beautiful i just can't hold it back.

Bit of a delay in getting this one posted. This week was a little different. Our game was moved for a week due to a renovation happening at the usual location. We played at one of the pubs owned by a couple of regulars in the game. Tables were borrowed from one of the larger “pub poker” companies that operate in Aust. and happen to run a few nights in this venue - hence the logos on the felt in the pictures.

Game is also a little different this week as it is a tournament not a cash game. Once a month our cash game takes a break and we run a satellite event. This season’s event is as follows: 15 players, 8 events, $250 entry per event (30k prize pool) with a points system calculating your best seven results and your overall finish determining your % of any monies won by the eventual winner’s (1st 50% down to 15th getting 1%)

Prize structure: 1st and 2nd, a seat into the Main Event of the 2016 Aussie Millions (10.6k per seat) 3rd and 4th, Satellite Seat for the Main Event $1150, remainder of the cash is used for prize money in the final two events. This helps ensure “proper play” even for those looking at a 1% share.

Most importantly we are using Stardust Poker Mansion Tournament Chips. 25k starting stacks, 20-minute blinds starting at 50/100: This was event 5 of 8 so the action started early with players trying to stay in touch with the point leaders.

Some 3-handed betting action pre=flop with an all-in bet on the flop. Bettor has A3 under there.

A3 gets it in on the flop and AQ thinks for a fair while and says “I think you have A3” a number of times. Gets it in anyway and the board pairs for the Q kicker to play. 3rd place eliminated. Pretty brutal considering

No pics of the final hand as I was dealing at the time, but a flopped straight loses to a rivered full. Gotta love poker.

Next week: back to cash, back to the usual location and some empress chips will hit the felt.

Finally remembered to take a few pics last night. Small game but lots of action.

We did. The blues are marked 5 and the pink is NCV. We only had 6 people so we only used the two colors so no one got confused. $1/2 NLH.

Next game is a special event on Saturday and a few lady teachers will probably join the game. Might need to start a thread for the EOL. They are very cool and perhaps hot enough to be an avatar for Courage. We'll see.

Prepping the Todd Tavern for a modified pink chip game ($5/$10 with a half kill) tomorrow night. Eight $220 buy-ins (4 barrels of pink Nile Club misprints, 1 barrel of Royal YAK $1s for antes), no max buy-in of course, so there's another 6 racks of snappers at the ready. And if that's not enough there's another 5 racks in reserve. Been awhile since I hosted one of these so needless to say I'm pretty pumped.

Wow. When you finally hit a Quadzilla, seeing the straight flush is just so deflating.

Had a slightly tighter cluster the other week at my dollar cash game:

We resurfaced the poker table for the weekly Monday game last night. As we got close to being finished my buddy sent out a mass text and we had nine degens ready to play within 20 minutes. :D

Found a private game in Lakeland (about 40 minutes from me) that was hosting a 1/1 NL cash game tonight. Beautiful neighborhood, fantastic poker room and an AMAZING spread of food and drinks including tons of different kinds of liquor. Just a really fantastic host.

Game was raked at a max of $3/pot, so not anything ridiculous. I was a bit worried at the outset since a lot of players were buying in for only $60-100 and with rake in the mix, well, you know.

But there was a great mix of players, three crazy action guys, some stations, some ultra-nits. I pretty much was able to play straight-up TAG and show a nice profit for the four hours I played. Bought in for $200, cashed out at $424. Was up to $450 at one point but gave a little back.

Kid across from me was super action player, raising and reraising with all sorts of garbage hands. But anytime the flop came paired he just always seemed to have that dangler card that hit it, he won some pretty massive pots and saw a bunch of swings. He even turned a straight flush against the Ace-high flush in a crazy hand that was raised pre multiple times by the crazy players, I came along on the button with pocket Tens and a guy in the blinds just called with QQ. Flop was 679 with two hearts and with a bet and a raise before it got to me I got out of dodge and was glad I did.

The only thing I really disliked was the chips. They were ceramics, and I prefer clay. But the colors were also a bit faded on the faces, and they were using $1, $5, $10 and $25 chips so it was quite the mess to try to calculate a mixed pot unless you were really keeping track of previous bets (which was good for me because I actually put more effort than I normally do to ensure my bet sizing was proper)

But yeah, I'd at least yank the $10 chips out of play to make things a bit less cumbersome. But aside from that gripe, great fun. A number of big drinkers in the game that got a bit obnoxious, but they were willing to donk off chips so I didn't mind. No one was mean spirited or anything, just tipsy.

I really like my cash set, I'm very happy with the trade I made. A poker table for some bad a$$ poker chips. The 5$ chips are my favorite though.

I agree with this. I like the look, but have never been a fan of larger inlayed chips. Loved the ACES chips. They had amazingly beautiful spots, but you could ONLY see them when stacked. I passed on buying them.

Buddy hit quads at last weekends game.

Short handed game this week (only 5 players) so the paulson mixed set gets a run. Mixed sets aren't generally everyone's thing (usually me included) and ones with $2 chips even more so (sorry Butler!) but this entire set was built around the Outpost $2 chip which I just had to get two racks of and somehow get in play.

Miss the flush but the ten is good somehow

got the key west chips into play last night for the first time. Fun game. I was in for one, 60.00 buy in. Ended up down 20 on the night.

I won a 200 pot. Lost a 200 pot. Last hand of the night I lost a 400 pot when the villain went runner/runner on me.

Hosted my first game last nite since the spring...put my newly labeled tournament Aztar roulettes into play.....this was my stack when I lost my final hand for 2nd place and a "massive" $75 prize! $10 buy-in, with rebuys the first hour, and $5 add-ons. $310 prize pool, first place was $100.

I used oxiclean on most of them. Also tried TSP. Both cleaning solutions seemed equally effective. Most all of the chips cleaned up nicely, the canary chips were harder to get clean. Most of these chips were really grubby, but I'm happy with how well they cleaned up.

Those roulettes look great. Nice!

Short handed game this week (only 5 players) so the paulson mixed set gets a run. Mixed sets aren't generally everyone's thing (usually me included) and ones with $2 chips even more so (sorry Butler!) but this entire set was built around the Outpost $2 chip which I just had to get two racks of and somehow get in play.

Action:

Re-raise the turn

Miss the flush but the ten is good somehow

Bet on the river and a contemplation count out. makes the fold and shows AA. Bettor turns over KK and laughs.

Now that you have decent chips coming, please take a look at upgrading to 100% plastic cards. Those look like standard plastic-coated paper Bicycles to me. Our one orbit took at least half an hour, and there was at least one shove every hand, with multiple handles making it to showdown. I saw zero flops. About half the hands the players had no idea who won until I read the hands face up.

I've found casino nights aren't good "poker" nights... Most people are there drink and gambol, and they want fast paced crazy action, and most don't really understand poker.... Every time I've participated in a casino night, where "poker" was on the agenda, it always seemed like a great idea at first, but I've always been disappointed.

We had our league game last night. 50.00 freeze out, double stack. I took a bottle of Don Julio and did shots with the hosts wife all night while taking 2nd place.

Year ending Zombie Poker Classic coming up this weekend.

Championship bracelet arrived today I was cutting it a bit close this year. No time to fix the error on the other side, but I doubt many (other than me or @Mrs Poker Zombie (https://www.pokerchipforum.com/members/1185/) would notice).

Zombie Foodies (CPCs) in the Main Event, Tribute chips (CPS) for the consolation game. Running 2 simultaneous tournaments makes this the toughest game of the year for me - but also the most fun :D

Up $312 on a .50/$1 Terribles game last night.

Played in a new home game tonight. 5/5 spread limit hold'em, Omaha, and O8. Max bet was $100 in hold'em, $75 in O8, and $50 in Omaha.

Nice room and table, but slugged chips and paper cards. Good action though - between 4-5K on table. Cashed out a small winner and, more importantly, got an invite back

My fives are more worn than the ones. Generally the horseshu mold chips are in better condition than the H&C. Some of the H&C $5 are almost smooth... Barely see the hat.

No. Call it a gift to the host and tell him/her that they last a lot longer than paper cards and won't need to be replaced as much.

Only if you rip up their old cards and spit on them. Generally, I've found people to stick with things they're comfortable with even when they're inferior products. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't use them right away..and I wouldn't insist that they do. But, if you leave them with your host I bet they'll find their way into the rotation eventually.

Unfortunately, I haven't met a single "paper card" person, who didn't complain about the cards being too slippery when I've introduced a nice setup into the game... Anytime the cards slip, and get away from them, they roll their eyes and say "see?"

Good game again last night - lots of action. They were actually fine with plastic cards, but preferred jumbo index. I will try a different setup next time.

I drank that shit when it was all I could afford and I embraced the "quantity over quality" philosophy. Fuck that.

I've recently have gotten into a few of the IPA's. I like Bell's Two Hearted Ale, Goose Island Endless IPA, or even Sam Adams Rebel IPA. Don't get me wrong. I won't turn down a solid Pale Ale either (just not into wheat beers, but again, I won't turn down a good one).

Actually, my preferred drink is Don Julio "Anejo". That just doesn't fit my budget to drink on a regular basis (or even semi regular basis, lol).

I don't like the Christmas beers. I don't like the spices used in them. Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald is a favorite of mine. I also like Commodore, Blackout stout (tough to find that one).

For me, organizing is half the fun, so I don't mind. But from someone who's hosted AND attended, it's more relaxing to attend (you get to enjoy the moment more).

This has me thinking, it'd be cool if we started a meetup host information thread... so prospective hosts could get info on what's all involved, or current hosts could share ideas? Not sure if there's sufficient interest in something like this?

For instance, I figured I would be forking over some money to host, but I had no real idea. I think I kept costs down to $400-500 out of pocket the first year, but it's only gone up exponentially since... and it's not like I'm mounting a freakin six-shooter to the effing trophy (I simply have to make attending THAT meetup a priority at some point)!!!!!

Anyone here who has a game room, probably put it together to show it off, and have it get used by people who appreciate it. I completely understand the desire to host. :) I'll be looking forward to an OHIO meetup in 2017 :)

What Dan forgot to mention was his excellent call in the last picture. Villian went all in on a bluff, and was caught red-handed by Dan to win the tournament! Always happy when the chips (and I) see some playing time.

Been playing a $5/5 NL home/underground game for a long time and just noticed something peculiar about the baller poker mirror artwork.

Sure, the decorations are horrendous and the place is kind of a dump (they have every beer you can imagine no charge so long as all you can imagine is Miller Lite and the food is limited to pizza and cheesesteak), but with a max rake of $2 in a $5/5 game, I'll take it.

Anyway, on to the beautiful mirror. I've looked at this thing for hours upon hours of my life and only this past weekend did I notice something:

Looks like someone scanned a TRK chip to make the "art" for the mirror.

BONUS: The host/owner asks me why I'm taking a picture of the mirror and I explain that the art for the chip is a scan of a particular type of chip well-known in chip collecting circles (not worth going into more detail with these mooks). The guy who asks the question says how can you tell and I explain the mold and say but it's a bit blurry due to poor photoshop work on the resizing. Guy says it wasn't resized, it's the same size as a real chip. I say I guess you should know since you bought it, but I'd bet it's not (I'm now in the 10 seat, far from the mirror). And he says "How much?" I through four greens into the middle of the table and he throws four greens and gets up to measure. Not even close as was obvious to anyone with eyes.

So they:

• changed the base color

• tried to replicate the font, but only got the "large font" part down.

• tried to replicate the number of edge spot inserts, but not the size (if you look carefully, there's a 5,000 chip on the mirror with 5 inserts, same as TRK).

The game broke after we got down to 5 players shortly after 4:30am. A couple of the guys were joking that they could only play until 11. 11pm on Sunday. Total players hit 14 for a stretch with a table running downstairs as well.

Ben, who has been struggling for while, broke out with a huge game and banked just north of $400 off a $40 buy in. I'm glad he won big as he needed something like this. It seemed like poker wasn't much fun for him anymore and he hosts the weekly Monday night game I attend. I ran pretty cold early, re-bought, and then ran my stack up to $220.

Fun night overall! I'm getting a lot of texts from the crew this morning and it sounds like everybody had a great time, including a couple of noobs and one returning player who I haven't seen in over a year.

Just played in a MPLS Rounders Christmas Tournament. It was a 50 dollar tournament which I busted out of. The chips are terrible but where else in MN can you get 50 people at a home game. Went over to the cash table which was playing .25/.50 NLHE with a 40 dollar min 100 dollar max.

Everyone else was buying in for 60 to 100. I bought in for my usual 40 dollars.... after an hour I called my 30 minutes. Here's what I cashed out with :)

Gave the host a nice tip and left with 363 dollars. I think this is probably my best run in the shortest amount of time with a 40 dollar starting stack.

Hosted a ladies poker night a year of so, and all the women were drinking wine (lots of wine) out of giant wine glasses, and the sloshing of wine was unbearable (especially at showdown). One lady would get so excited if she won, the red wine in her glass would slosh up towards the rim of the glass, perilously close to spilling all over my table... We had to make a rule, that prior to the River being dealt, ALL glasses had to be set down.

This was one of the tamer ladie's nights. Well before the river "glasses down" rule. I'm sorry, but I was doing this as a favor to a few of the neighborhood ladies, and I wasn't really into having red wine (or any beverage) spilled on my table or my brand new cream colored carpet (THAT would have made my wife, oh so happy). This is why I have drink carts. Now don't get me wrong, I wasn't all anal-douche about it, but when the ladies got all super drunk and were about to spill wine all over the place, I had to take it down a notch. One lady would get so excited at showdown, she'd jump up and wave her arms around when she'd win... but she was too drunk to remember that she was holding a giant glass of red wine.

At one game, I was seriously worried how they were going to get home (and they only lived within a few blocks of us). You might think being the only sober guy, in a room full of falling down drunk woman, might be tons of fun, but I've had more fun experiences in my life. :rolleyes: Guess I'm just weird that way.

LOL, well, she's actually the best (most avid) poker player in all the ladies poker nights. She is the only one who has continued to play my game (when she's in town). She's not the most adept the finer points of poker, but... I will tell you that her maff skills are unparalleled.

I would wager money that there's no one on this site who can match her dizzying math skills... Gauntlet thrown.

I will also add, that if she's in town for the MTTD, she'd be one of the locals I would consider extending an invitation to. I think our MTTD numbers are such that we might not need to invite many locals, but for sure a few will get the nod.

She's Bulgarian, with that raspy European accent. She's VERY adventurous, always posting FB pictures of herself from various mountain tops and amazing places in nature. And she's nomadic, traveling between her home in my quaint corner of the world, to where she works (on the east coast), and all points around the globe. She's always the last person to leave my game, often after the sun has come up... (she seriously only requires like 2 hours of sleep per night). She's fascinating to talk to, and I have no freaking clue if she likes to be tied up, ROFL... My home game on Friday night, .50/.50 blinds No limit Texas Hold'ed. I also had a high hand pot $2 per person but I sweetened the pot by throwing in 10 to start..We ended up having a low straight then full house with 10's over Q's and then J's over K's, BUT the winner of the night ended up with A's over Q's (the winner was me)..

These chips were once the only chips we used in a twice weekly game and they have seen more action than a Thai hooker.

Not generally in use are the: .50c, $2's, $3's and $10 chips which now generally only get used for Chinese Poker or when the host sometimes puts one extra denomination in to the game to generate action (usually the $3's which have some history with this group).

Hit quads vs a table maniac to my left, and a calling station to act before me. Maniac bets every street, calling station comes along, I just smooth call... Until the river, when maniac (who has us both covered) shoves, calling station calls, and I fist pump call.

Maniac has 63o, CS has an Ax (and both chop, playing the board).

Lots of drama in last night's cash game, which was followed by a T1000 tournament. We had a full table of n=10 players, and let's just say it was a very bad night for trips!

This was one of the few hands where trips held up. A $15 bet from the set of trips got the flush draw(s) to fold.

such a disappointing way to end that session. Fought my way back from the brink to just over even, expecting to double up with pocket 10s that hit trips the flop. Never even saw that straight coming. Bottom fell right out of my stomach when he said he flopped the straight.

Bit of a marathon weekend of poker for @chipjoker (https://www.pokerchipforum.com/members/366/) and I (by our standards). I'm sure some of you play this much every weekend. First game Friday night at jokers. My game (these pics) Saturday night. There is very little overlap in our player pools, so we can have our games the same weekend without over stressing the player pool.

Got the Trops into play. We play the first two hours of dime/dime PLO. We are new to PLO, some newer than others. The game is very limpy/cally. My general strategy for this game is to play quite TAGy... specially in PLO. I didn't see a turn card until the last hand where I had 4433. Flopped A25, two to not my suit. It gets potted, I repot... Three callers. Turn, 2. Same bettor bets, there's a call and then I repot. Bettor folds, caller calls. River is a brick. Caller bets, puts me allin, I call. He shows 55... I guess I should've slowed down in the turn. Oh well. Had some rungood once we got into Holden, 25c/50c. Overall $300 in $980 out.

I got a straight flush on the flop and was first to act, I checked, player 1 bet $5 into a $9 pot, player 2 calls, hero (me) just calls.

Turn: Hero checks gain knowing some one will bet, P1 bets 10, P2 calls, Hero just calls,

River, Hero checks again, P1 Bets 20, P2 all in, Hero calls, P1 calls..

I was $120 in $194 out, not bad...I have been down at my game for 2015 so I hope 2016 will be better...

Ended up with 12 at the table (2 more showed up after the pic).....had the Pats game on all the TVs followed by the Cardinals game

Yea last night was the last straw. I actually found them after they sat for years and I thought they were dirty from a lot of use so I washed them and put them back in play. And they were grimy as ever by the end of the session. So I will be picking up something new before next month's game.
