Hot Dog Roller Recs?

I'm gonna take the Forum's advice and finally snag a hot dog roller instead of ordering pizza/sub trays for each game, but I wanted to see if you all had any advice on a particular brand or model that you like.

I also wanted to ask, as I have no real experience with hot dog rollers, can you cook things like Italian sausage or pop-open style hot dogs (like Zweigle's white hots, for those of you in the know), or do they start to curl up as they cook and not roll correctly?

Thanks!

Olde Midway 7 Roller

You can tell when I purchased mine. It remains in perfect condition. Worth every penny.

Is it simple to maintain cleanliness?

How long does it typically take to cook? What about simmering/keeping an eye on it? Is there a “keep warm” setting?

You’ll never look back with the roller. I added a couple 2 quart crock pots and do sloppy joes and the occasional pulled pork.

Food is king.

Do you find it easy to keep clean?

Clean it while it is still hot and it cleans very easily

How long does it generally take to cook? What about overlooking? Is there a 'keep warm' option?

Set it at 250 and forget it. It takes a little bit to cook but you have no worries at all

Do you find it simple to keep it clean?

When you decide to clean, use an ice cube wrapped in a washcloth while she’s fired up to 300 degrees. Boom.

My Olde Midway Pro 18 showed up a few days ago, and I’ll be getting it running shortly. I’m planning to heat hot dogs and taquitos. Any advice on temperature settings (it has two temperature knobs) as well as suggested cooking/heating durations for each? Hot dogs are straight from the fridge, taquitos are frozen.

My Olde Midway Pro 18 arrived a couple of days ago, and I’ll be firing it up soon. Planning on hot dogs and taquitos. Any suggestions on temperatures (it has two temperature controls) as well as cooking/heating times for each? Hot dogs are refrigerator-cold, taquitos are frozen.

Taquitos are tricky because they’re so small. If you’ve found some that rotate well, please share.

Taquitos are tricky because they’re so small. If you discover some that roll up properly, please share with everyone.

Looks like my kids and I will need to run a taquito test for research purposes.

Taquitos are tough, because they are so small. If you found some that turn well please let us all know

Is the issue that they get jammed between the rollers?

edit: I just placed a couple on and see they aren't rotating properly. Not really stuck, just sitting there. Come on Olde Midway, it's 2025 and this should be fixed. Let the people have their tacquitos.

Placing aluminum foil in the tray beneath the rollers can reduce cleanup time as well

Are they getting wedged between the rollers?

edit: I just put a couple on and noticed they aren't turning correctly. Not exactly stuck, just stationary. Come on Olde Midway, it's 2025 and this needs to be fixed. Let people have their tacquitos.

Yeah, the problem was twofold. They're small and drop down between the two rollers, and the rolled tortilla edge forms a lip that prevents rotation.

Corn dogs work great, egg rolls not as much, brats have to be straight (not curved)

Yeah, the problem was twofold. They're tiny and fall between the two rollers, and the rolled edge of the tortilla forms a lip that won't turn.

Guys, we've found our Shark Tank idea.

Boys, we found our Shark Tank idea.

I wish tornado’s could be bought at the store, if I could find something like that it would be great.

The breakfast style corn dogs have me interested as well.

Hamburger Roller bites work. They also make a buffalo chicken roller bite.

How do you purchase those?

They previously sold them on Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/?tag=amznpcfx-20) but when I checked just now, they appear to be unavailable.

The tornados and roller bites look good. I’d make them for family or during events like a Super Bowl. I do not take a rake and these are a whole lot more expensive than glizzy’s ha

The more I consider this, I wonder whether taquitos could succeed if you deliberately control their orientation. For example, if the piece tends to roll with the near side moving downward, position the tortilla fold so it won’t catch on the roller but instead rolls away from it. Not sure that comes across clearly in writing.

Stepping up for the group and giving these tough ones a try. I'll share feedback afterward.

Taking one for the team and trying out these bad boys. Will report back.

I have never heard of these but gotta know!

Edit: not at Walmart in Omaha sadly

I've never heard of these before but I need to know!

Edit: not at Walmart in Omaha, unfortunately

I didn't rotate them, yet holy crap they were delicious coming out of the oven. I might cheat and finish them in the oven first, then keep them at 150f on the roller. Is there any problem with that strategy? Will the bottom become overly dry and crusty? All I know is that science is hard work.

Didn’t spin, but holy hell were they delicious from the oven. I’m tempted to shortcut by partially baking them first and then keeping them at 150f on the roller. Is there any problem with that approach? Will the underside become overly dry and crusty? All I know is that science is hard work.

That wasn’t a problem with egg rolls. They rotated occasionally or I gave them a nudge, but never developed burn marks or dry patches.

Just curious. I run a small game, 6 to 8 players and was thinking of the Pro 12. Hold 12 dogs, which I take to mean less, but it's 700W, instead of 900W.

I have space constraints and we usually have chicken tenders and pizza as well and my players aren't very food curious. I figure I'll only have 6 or 7 dogs on and maybe some of the other items you all posted, a few burger/dogs, etc.

I'll set it up for 250 and see what happens. I'm just curious of the 700W will be a factor. Anyone tried the 700W?

I just used my hotdog roller for the first time and feel like I have a few things to learn about cooking the perfect dog. Are there other users who’d be willing to share tips for getting the best results?

This bad boy only holds four but cook perfectly. Theres a little timer knob on the side that gives a perfect cook. Taquitos will actually work as well. I just wish it held 8 dogs like advertised.
