I haven't seen a thread for this so I figured I would start one. Post pics of your custom poker table felts!

That's nice! (my eyes keep starring at those 25k chips though) :) By the time I host a meetup, I plan to have a custom felt on my main 55" round and my second oval table. (that still needs to be built)

Thanks, I have seen this thread before but still no idea how much it would cost to have someone do the artwork as well.

I was meaning total cost.

It depends on who you hire to do the design work. Quotes I received for mine ranged from $0 - $100.

I had the same design done for 3 tables through Rye Park. The average cost came to $300 per table. Pricey but well worth the investment. The cloth is flexible and easy to work with and is soft to the touch making a long session more comfortable on your hands.

I'll post a pic later.

Here's the artwork file to make it a lot clearer. I found the Goku and Vegeta images online, combined them on the felt then added a dragon image I had on file. I wish I could have used Shenron but I couldn't find a good image to use. I thought the betting line would be funky to have it fade between the two colors.

Haven't actually gotten the table built but I'm planning to this coming month. I've got all the supplies but the rail material and playing surface padding. I've got twin oak pedestal legs for this table as it will be a permanent fixture in my man cave :). Thanks again to @p5woody (https://www.pokerchipforum.com/members/129/) for the great work on designing this!

It's 84x44 inches with a 5 inch rail.

Check out this link: http://www.pokerchipforum.com/threads/custom-cloths.3661/ (https://www.pokerchipforum.com/threads/custom-cloths.3661/)

I pulled this pricing from the link above (FYI - I think pricing might have gone up $25 since this information was posted)

Up to 96" long:

$225 shipped for a custom cloth. You pay USD or CDN based on your location since it costs a little more to ship to US. First 2 hours of design time are free. $75/hour after that.

$185 shipped if you have your own artwork which you send to me so that it can go straight to print.

$155 shipped if you have your own artwork as well as you're an established poker table builder (built more than 5 tables).

As stated earlier in this thread the Artwork can range anywhere from 0 to 100+

I can comment. I've played on a couple of his clothes, and they are the NUTZ!

My table is like an air hockey table, cards glide effortlessly. I get so many positive comments from people who play at my game, people are in awe! Proud owner for sure! I wouldn't hesitate to order another Chan cloth.

Just received pics from @T_Chan (https://www.pokerchipforum.com/members/71/) with my new table. Can't wait to receive it and put it in play.

I wanted to showcase the MD flag, and after several iterations, we came to this final design. This has my MD flag and represents Ellicott City. About a year and half ago, historic Ellicott City's main street flooded, doing excessive amounts of damage to the town. Some businesses have since reopened, but many are still beyond repair.

Thank you again Tony !!

It shipped Monday with scheduled arrival for Tuesday in Houston. I was shocked when I heard that. However, there wasn't room room on the plane when it got to Cincinnati and it got put on hold, but it still made it here one day later. I was expecting it to take about a week. One problem though. I couldn't get it open. I guess its fastened with metric allen wrenches, because my english ones don't work. Off to home depot tomorrow.

Is there a significance to the pattern in the middle section or is it just a random pattern picked?

A little long, and a bit old, but it gives you the general idea.

I know you said its an old video, but its the first time I've seen it.

Although the plot is the same, this video is way better than the movie Blair Witch Project.

I decided t go with side tables to keep food and drink off the table. I will be using some fold out tv trays with jumbo cup holders cut into the trays.

Made these in 2010 and only just dug the files back up to contribute to this thread. Two of my fave design projects of all time. Ordered both the printed felts from Rye Park. They have held up great over the years.

I don't have a picture of this one in play, this one is in storage for a little while... Viewing this one on screen doesn't really do it justice. The King in the dark green ends up being quite abstract and a nice detail once you "see" it.

Next up is @franimal (https://www.pokerchipforum.com/members/3528/) and his K5 Table in Knicks colours. If you look closely you can see the K5 logo in the pattern. Usually a detail that people miss at first then notice a little while into the game.

Yes, it’s a tulip table base. It has the same drawbacks of any pedestal table, but it was designed to serve as a dining table, sturdy enough to handle lots of weight around the perimeter, including elbows. So we’ll see. Games held in my house tend to be more sedate affairs. Or at least they’ll have to be.

I have a concept that I'll be submitting to T_Chan on Friday that will have a hotpink element in it, albeit it's a small element in a larger design. I'm really excited to get going on it, been waiting for my annual bonus (or winning the $4000 table, haha) that is getting paid out almost a month and a half later this year than usual.

@T_Chan (https://www.pokerchipforum.com/members/71/) after the design is approved about how long does it take to get the suede, shipping would be to SLC, UT? And about how long does it usually take for in-house design work? I understand several variables could affect it, I'm just hoping to start hosting by May and wonder if that's realistic if I order suede this Friday?

A little long, and a bit old, but it gives you the general idea.

@T_Chan (https://www.pokerchipforum.com/members/71/)

Your playing surface foam doesn't go all the way to the edge. Is that so the rail sits better and there's less chance for a gap that cards could go under? Is it important as far as the cloth being securely stapled goes?

T_ChanShark223 posts
Posted Apr 7, 2018, 5:28 PM#187

Yes, that's why I cut the foam short.

No, it's not really important with regards to stapling the felt down, however if the foam does go all the way to the edge of the plywood, then I would suggest that you staple the felt to the edge of the plywood or even wrap it around and staple underneath.

Many thanks and official congrats to His All Craftiness @T_Chan (https://www.pokerchipforum.com/members/71/) for the superb felt:

The table itself, one with folding legs, had the felt and foam appllied by a caprenter friend of mine, who also collared it with an oversized rail to extend its diameter from 120 to 128cm (47.5 to 50.5 in) and make it capable of accommodating 7 players. Really nice work, especially if you take into account that this was the first poker table that he saw, let alone built, in his life.:)

Saint John Coltrane (pictured here as a Greek Orthodox saint, in a Byzantine-type icon) overseeing the games:D

Notice the flames of his soul coming out of the sax.

Another nice element in the room

And a picture I took and printed many years ago, of the Greek chapel of St Nicholas, just under one of the WTC towers

Scanned it from a magazine and magnified it, then had it printed.

The magazine, if I remember well, claimed that the icon was the inspiration of some Coltrane fans from California, who hired an icon-maker to paint it. If I judge from the mis-spelled name Ioanis (correct is Ioannis with double -nn-) apparently the icon-maker wasn't Greek, but still interested enough in medieval Greek culture to become an icon-maker:)

Sweet! Thanks!

BTW, if you are doing an oval table, you need 6 to 7 meters long, I buy two 5 meter rolls from the same place and cut one down.

If you are doing a round table 5 meters works (5M is standard.

Table #3 might look familiar too, since Mike (@slisk250 (https://www.pokerchipforum.com/members/684/) ) VERY generously let me use his table design — with a couple obvious modifications. Photos kinda suck. Tough time of day lighting-wise, to get photos in my living room. But the colors on all 3 of the tables are really great in person.

Personal delivery was a delightful bonus. Another HUGE thank you to @Johnny5 (https://www.pokerchipforum.com/members/350/) for his amazing artwork, with bonus points for being patient with all of my flip-flopping during the design development. Finally, special thanks to @slisk250 (https://www.pokerchipforum.com/members/684/), for letting me modify his table artwork for a Mel's table, to go with the Mel's chips he also let me copy. I loved Mike's design, and he was very generous to share it with me. THANK YOU!

This site has killed me and my spending spree continues! Decided it was time for a new poker table. Got in touch with a custom table builder here in Melbourne, Australia and have ordered a table.

2700mm long by 1200mm wide. Can't recall rail height but it's the thicker of the two options, in a carbon fibre style weave. No cup holders, no dealer spot or dealer tray, just straight table.

Felt will be printed in the next week and table should be done by the end of November.

Current table has speed felt and I love the pattern, so I started with a similar one for this felt (like lots of the ones on here). I chose colours from their Pantone samples printed on the actual felt so the colours are much more similar (very, subtle) compared to the image file below.

Rail is 150mm wide and I added a betting line 200mm from the edge of the rail. Giving players a little more room for chips and cards.

Can't wait!

I know this isn’t the same as many people’s taste, and may be more of a 50-year-old’s perspective, but:

If I ever commission a custom felt, I will want it to be very subdued to reduce visual noise. Dark green on dark green, or dark gray on dark gray, or dark blue on dark blue, etc.

I don’t want players’ eyes “competing” with elaborate, jazzy, high-contrast patterns or letters or images; just want everyone to see the cards and chips clearly.

This is my 2nd custom Poker cloth for my 7 foot table. The cloth itself is 72"x 36" and fits in the center portion of the table only. The racetrack hides the cloth attachment (staples)

I've wanted this design since I saw the Sportsnet Poker tournament which includes NHL plasyers and Poker pros such as Vannessa Rousso, Daniel Negreanu to mention a few.

Here are pics of my table with under rail lights. Notice the background of the 2nd pic of the table with the rail light off.

It's a built in wall bar fridge.

The table also has under table pull out trays that holds bowls for snacks. This keeps all the snack food bowls off the table.

I built this table with 8 cup holders in the racetrack.

@bsdunbar1 (https://www.pokerchipforum.com/members/922/) is the builder and did an awsome job! Updated me with pics all the way from beginning to end. If anyone is in the omaha area I would highly reccomend sending him a message if you are in the market for a new poker table. I have not played on this one yet, but I have played on his own custom tables, and they are easily the nicest tables I have played on.

@p5woody (https://www.pokerchipforum.com/members/129/) helped out bigtime with the design of the cloth.

@T_Chan (https://www.pokerchipforum.com/members/71/) printed the cloth and it looks awsome.

@navels (https://www.pokerchipforum.com/members/2885/) and @MegaTon44 (https://www.pokerchipforum.com/members/1503/) helped with input and comments throughout

I Have not seen the table in person yet, because I am out shipping, but cant wait to get home and play some poker on it.

The cloth is an old medieval nautical map that I thought would make a cool poker table felt.

Thanks again to everyone involved.

My tastes are perhaps a bit simple and boring I'd say given what you have got there. Stunning! I have what I'd say a "smooth" and "sleek" design. I opted for no racetrack. However, there is a "racetrack" effect incorporated into the layout along with a few other elements I wanted. @davin (https://www.pokerchipforum.com/members/3463/) ...your table picture on Tony's website also served as some inspiration. Imagine the day I get it!!!!

Its a fuax skin. Nice quality vinyl made to mimic boa. I honestly regret the racetrack. Its the only part of the table I'm actually "unhappy" with but I had gone with these options prior to becoming a forum member and learning about the downsides of a racetrack. I love the way it looks but you have the upkeep of having to keep it clean and polished. Also harder to play on since you can't really keep the hole cards on the wood. I'm looking into eventually maybe trying to convert it to a full felt table. Definitely a very long term project though.

Not sure if you asking as a "I noticed that they are slower" or if you are just wondering IF they are...

I love my @T_Chan (https://www.pokerchipforum.com/members/71/) Felts. These (His) are AWESOME. My first few tables were felt, and sped Cloth, then I purchased a custom cloth from Tony and have never looked back, when I build tables I recommend them ordering a custom cloth..

One of the table I sold with speed cloth on it is in the possession of a friend and He wants to upgrade his table to a T_Chan cloth, I hope He does this year..

Just an FYI, there are many different types of felts that can be sub dyed, including white suited speed cloth. The sub dye process doesn't make them any slower. Our gaming suede is specifically chosen since it provides really good card slide. We've even used another product recently which we test where cards slide like an air hockey table, but in the end we didn't use it as the texture was too "plastic" feeling.

I was afraid of losing the glide of speed cloth if I went custom but that's great to hear!

My table is done!!!!!

I actually really like this design.

  1. Do your players feel that it is too busy?

  2. Because of the light background, has anyone spilled a dark drink on it and stained it?

Maker's is about 5 miles from my house and my Tool & Die Fab Shop does work for them working on the bottling lines and in the distillery. As for the tours that is the only one but normally I just walk into the part I need to see. They now have a special room that is only for blending your own barrel and it is nice.

Maker's only do their brand at this time I know there is talk of adding another still house but not sure when. Also they try to source most of their raw materials locally. One year they raised some of the winter wheat for a sample run on my farm.

Genuine Speed clothes do NOT come with betting lines.

The best source, by the way, is Your Auto Trim (YAT) in Mississippi. (True ones, not Chinese crap).

To have a betting line on a speed cloth, you have to either:

-Draw it yourself (if you or a friend are really crafty), with a good paint marker, using some dish or fry-pan as driver, for the curves (the curves are the hard part- you just need a ruler for the straights).

-Have a different speed cloth for the players' "racetrack" area, and another type of speed cloth for the main betting area.

-Have Tony Chan (a most respectable vendor here) print whatever you want on an otherwise white speed cloth.

Hi, trying to save money in 2020 by grabbing fabric on my own and sending to a printer.

Anyone who can give good advice on the specific type of felt / fabric to grab?

I don't know a lot about fabric, but when I took a swatch of felt (from a fabric store) to a screenprinter, I was told it was the "wrong type" of felt; I believe too porous.

Anyone know the "correct" specific type of felt (or fabric) to use?

Thanks!

Several build threads in the table forum, you'll just have to do a search. @Trihonda (https://www.pokerchipforum.com/members/136/) did a nice one several years ago

Very nice indeed, whats the story behind the eight duece???

Kind of a long story, but it has turned into my "Doyle Brunson" hand, and it's become a legend in my league over the last 15 years.

In summary, early in our league I had a streak where I kept getting that hand in the big blind, no one would preflop raise, and I would flop the nuts or flop would check around and I'd make the straight or flush, and I'd turn it over and say "8-2, baby!" to multiple groans and threats of table flips. That has since evolved into everyone trying to play that hand and beat me with it, with very few successes (because that hand SUCKS!).

So, just a league insider joke, but a fun one. BTW - Don't play 8-2!

Great work from some members here.

Does anyone know why there's literally ZERO plans online now (other than BYOT pretty much) for custom made poker tables, with, lets say - raised raised or even a kidney bean shape? Actual written blueprint instructions and measurements? Did the poker table makers in various countries get together and pay to take sites down? Baffled by the sheer lack thereof....was looking to remake my table top in a premium 'slight' kidney bean curve (10 seater). before you asked, yes I did a thread search and found a couple of posts with some images; Nothing instruction wise, unless the image itself is supposed to be the instruction?

RoOSTA

ya, I was thinking the SAME thing. I have some friends who want to build their own, are in a rush, and can’t wait u til I’m free to assist. I was trying to give them some advice, but wanted a complete set of table instructions, like hose I found back when I started to build tables.. now there is nothing.. no YouTube videos, no website instructions, etc.. at

least nothing that I’d recommend. Most of the table build instructions or videos I found seems to from people doing their first table, or doing a hexagonal or racetrack table, lol. Anytime I see instructions list using a jig saw (instead of a router), it’s an immediate “novice” tell.. a router has so much better results, and makes the Latter parts of the job way easier..

you can see my latest table build thread in the fat tire blog link in my signature.

Wouldn't be surprised if some poker table merchants in various countries did the rounds and paid people to take down their designs/sites...Pretty sad. As my first build was based around a Sweedish (or Swiss?) design of a raised rail, custom lit 10 seater table...Iike it, but wanted a different shape in this time.

I'd pay a little to get designs off someone for a private build for myself... So hopefully someone sees this post and can help.

I think that the main reason is due to the fact that poker table building forums all shut down. Scott Keen forum went the way of the blue wall, Perfect Man Cave activity died down drastically, Poker Table Forum got retired and is now merged with the PCF Poker table section.

Any good build threads went along with them. Photobucket changing their image policies to paid also played a part as well I think.

I used to post many build threads, but they all went away with the aforementioned forums. Then I went full time with poker table building so it's not in my best interest to share build plans anymore.

There's not a lot of builders anymore like there used to be in the early 2000's during the poker boom. There's still a few kicking around but you really have to do a lot of hunting to find them. There's still some good ones on PCF if you go through enough pages and threads. BYOPT has plans online, but most include the use of a jigsaw which is a bit of a red flag...

Back to poker table felts though!

The middle has a nice basket weave pattern:

Tony ships to anywhere in the world, but the cost might be too high, having to include customs fees.

At this top level, there is Jarque Tables in France (not sure communication in English would be smooth, though)

Small 30x30 print for a games table.

That’s a neat look. I’m assume the “light source” is printed onto the fabric? If that makes sense. Or maybe the gradient from light to dark is printed in. If that’s a better way to state it. Either way cool unique look.

I know, I know. I've received a bunch of mockups from J5, and I'm somehow just not loving the red felts compared to blue or blue-greenish options. An entire table of Red is almost a bit too overpowering somehow. My thought now is to go with a more subtle felt design and let the chips in play shine.

I say definitely go for a more subtle table felt design in general and in a non-competing color so you don't have any issues with seeing the chips. It's funny actually, to me, the best felt designs are the most "boring" (simple design or a monochrome color palette). The colors are for the chips!

Agreed. A little bit of red can go a long way. If I ever get around to doing a custom felt, I'll probably go with a boring tan or beige and let my logo and chips be the stand-out colors.

My racetrack pattern was your everyday suited pattern but he suggested 3D polygonol suits instead. The left part of the betting line and wolf face was plagued in boring silver but I asked that we give it some flare so he suggested a metal effect instead. I absolutely love the final design! Soon it will be in my hands, laid across my table with cards gliding effortlessly from one end to the other!:wow: Also, I'll be starting my table build thread very soon so keep an eye out!

They are a “marine” application.

they are awesome, I use them in all my raised rail tables because with the raised rail they don’t stick out the bottom of the table.

My felt came in, install as a little harder then the original since there was 3M adhesive on the padding, it made it harder to slightly adjust the felt in the correct placement.

I'm really happy with the performance of the felt.

That looks like an awesome design. I'm not familiar with the artwork. Where did the inspiration come from?

I am not a gamer either. This table is a "Zelda" theme, so something to do with that?

That's what all the symbols are and I have no clue what those are either lol.

Hi guys, i have used my PCF Topper for the first time on this weekend. I just loved the feel of the material. Has anyone made a felt for their table out of the same material? Is this possible? With a custom design? I really like it a lot better than the felt i have on my table. Now iam wondering whether i can replace it with a custom printed felt made out the same material as the pcf topper..

No reason why this shouldn't work.

Euro-PCF's favorite table topper provider https://www.montapisdejeux.com (https://www.montapisdejeux.com/) (read more at https://www.pokerchipforum.com/threads/custom-neoprene-topper.54890/) makes custom tables with the same cloth material as their table toppers.

I'm not 100% sure if they use the same material as the PCF topper, but either way it should be perfectly doable.

Remove the 5 outlines for cards. 100% not needed.

The artwork looks good. I agree with Craig, the rectangles for the community cards aren't necessary.

The gradient in the background looks nice, though keep in mind that it will disappear a little where the gradient gets darker and the background color starts to get really close to the pattern color.

I like the bottom one. Vertical lines can be distracting when trying to focus on the face up cards.

I also think leaving some blank space between the tour name and the Live at Hpt text would look nice. Basically remove the 5 card outlines, but leave the blank space.

From this (it was called the hofman felt/table)

To this (miami vice colors with mount pilatus)

(the table was delivered with the Hofman felt, first time changing cloths, and it shows, not that symmetric). Next time i think i will get some help or just buy a new table...)

I made my own design using the trial version of Adobe Illustrator, which was relatively easy to navigate. I tried the design in PDF, but the resolution wasn't good enough to get a nice crisp image for the sublimation felt.

The file from AI that I sent was EPS, and it was accepted. The maker did some tweaks as per my suggestion, and a week later they sent me a picture of the finished design for final approval.

This is the finished product. It may be a bit dirty as it has been used for 3 years, It does clean up well.

I did have it, but my computer hard drive crashed and I lost many of my folders including the EPS files that I had for the pattern. I'll check my backup Cd's to see if I can find them. I found the EPS file for the design but it is too large to upload on this post. You will need Adobe Illustrator to be able to increase the size of the felt, change design etc.

That looks great. Where did you get the skate mark background, Was it a vector image.

I think k9 used the same one that I used, and it was a huge vector image.

I toned my down a little, so it was more subtle. And it should go over the images, lines, logos, etc. as they are painted on the floor below the ice (but I understand wanting that center ice image to shine).

Hi I am a newbie on here but love this site! Have a table that I want to upgrade and need some help please. I need to make it a little longer and wider to accommodate my new chairs. I was thinking to just redo the rail thicker and wider which should give me more room. I saw a photo I liked the style and color of and just now need some help.

I want to also raise the rail with led lights but have a custom panel like you have . Where did you get that?

Any other ideas would be appreciated and more than willing to pay for someone to do it! I am in Albuquerque NM

I am wanting my table railing to look similar to the last photo. But also now after seeing these custom felts may redo felt too!!

Legally, I'm pretty sure you can print whatever game you want on a felt as long as you're not infringing on someone's copyright (like adding for example the Bellagio casino logo).

The playing surfaces for those games aren't copyrighted for home use as far as I know.

Running an underground game, taking rake from your visitors to play your games is something else of course.

Better check your local gambling laws.

I'm thinking about having a logo placed on suited speed cloth. What type of printer is needed for best results? I have read something about sublimation.

Suited Speed clothes of already some color cannot be printed; they can only have drawings on them with an oil marker (sharpie in the US, if I 'm not mistaken)

Another solution is to order a white Suited Speed cloth from @T_Chan (https://www.pokerchipforum.com/members/71/) which can indeed be printed to any color and logo of your liking, if I 'm not mistaken

Hello all,

I'm thinking about having a logo placed on suited speed cloth. What type of printer is needed for best results? I have read something about sublimation.

I have not built a table in years, but I'm getting the itch to get back to it and playing regular poker games again....

I can also have any custom design printed on a table topper that will fit precisely inside the rails of your table if you want the flexibility of being able to change designs over time. Take a look at the links in my signature to learn more if you’re interested

IMHO in general felts should not be too busy with their graphics. Depending on the chips used, this can make things look a little berserk.

I much prefer solids, or subtle patterns. Preferably a color that isn’t going to overlap with chip hues and weights.

I have found in a lot of cases, tables don't get used allot are used just as much for eye candy.

Very well done. But I'll agree with the others that it is very "busy." I could see this being draped over a sarcophagus. I'd prefer to have line art of the ankh and the scarab beetles, although they do look great. On the other hand, I'd almost rather have it as a print I could frame and display on a wall. But this isn't my table and to each their own with table design. Maybe we could see it with some cards and chips on it at some point. Thanks for posting it.

Another pet peeve of mine is felts which have the seat locations delineated. This works fine if you have every seat filled. But when playing with a different number of players than the felt is meant for, and people spread out, the lines/marks don’t match up and it starts to look jumbled.

Not a huge thing, but this seems especially common with cheaper mass-produced tables and toppers.

I understand your point of view, but I don't think it's a problem at all. I have this on all my felts along with seat numbers, I find it helps a lot when organizing tournaments. Moving players is so much more streamlined than without.

When the seats are not filled, if players have the need to spread out then the allotted areas aren't large enough to begin with. IMO, of course.

How far in front of your cards? My cards are against the rail and capped; I place 10 $5 chips in front of my cards and let go, reaching back to my stack for more. Is that a string bet before I've pushed it forward? We cant just say in front of my cards. Distance matters, the line is a way of quantifying that distance.

Full corporate sponsorship. Printed 12 of these to put onto our rental tables for a single night, then pulled them all off the next day. Each one has the logos rotated so that every company had a chance to be in the center and not shoved in the corner. Also alternated the middle color between red, green, blue, purple, orange and brown.

Some new branding for our rental division.

Finally spent some time tonight working on my felt design that I'll be sending over to @T_Chan (https://www.pokerchipforum.com/members/71/) as soon as I've got it close... I realized I know nothing about creative design lol... I don't know how some of the designers here just pop out these amazing felts.... anyway this is what I've come up with so far just using Canva. Our company name is BlackOak and the gold Oak leaf is our logo so I wanted to incorporate it into my table design. I've come up with the name " The Gold Leaf Lounge" for our club. All gold should look like a brass/gold color and the word "Lounge" should almost look like gold neon sign lettering if that makes sense... I'm not sure if #4,5,6 should have some sort of pattern on the black areas of the felt? Please feel free to judge it! haha if there's anyone with experience in felt design I'd love to hear your opinion! (These are in no particular order, just how they came out of Canva)

I'll definitely throw that change in and see how it looks! It's been way more difficult than I had originally thought it would be to come up with a design haha. @ T_Chan

I’m looking to get a table built soon here in Australia and love this design. Just asking what that would cost to have printed and shipped here? The table details are 94” (230cm) as detailed on the site I’m looking to buy from.

Thanks mate.

Not custom, but rare? I've had this laying around for a long time...about 18 years long

It's going on the table I am building this weekend that will replace my main table.

Just send me a PM with your address and I'll get you the shipping costs. The cloth itself would be $245 minutes artwork discount of $30 if all I'm doing is resizing.

Just finalized 2 semi-custom felts. 1 for a raised rail and the other for a regular table. Spent quite a bit of time working on a custom design and just couldn't come to a design I really liked yet. So instead, I decided to save a bit of money and go semi-custom with @T_Chan (https://www.pokerchipforum.com/members/71/) and @Bloo_Design (https://www.pokerchipforum.com/members/12962/) on these 2 simple felts so I can get both tables in play while I take some time to create a custom design that I really love... believe it or not, colour selection is really difficult due to the fact that the real life printed colours are going to be much different than what we see on screens... best advice would be to contact @Bloo_Design (https://www.pokerchipforum.com/members/12962/) & @T_Chan (https://www.pokerchipforum.com/members/71/) early in your design process and ask for a colour swatch or if you have specific colours in mind that you want to see samples of, they can help with that as well! Ray was extremely patient with me as I am a total pain in the ass when it comes to details haha Even on extremely simple felts like these... thanks for all your help guys!! Can't wait to get these on the tables!

Hi friends- looking for advice to utilize this 54” banquet table as a poker table. I’m pretty handy, but will need help with a rail for sure. I’m thinking rail with cup holders, lights, race track, and felt. Will be used as a second table, and for smaller games.

Secondary/backup table or primary?

If it's a second table that would get only get occasional use, you could probably get away with a custom topper and be happy with it.

As a main table, you'd be looking at foam, felt and rails as you suspect. The first parts are not terribly difficult, but a rail (and especially a lit rail) are bigger projects, as you likely already suspect.

Not a bad start for the latter for sure. Table with legs already done and good to go will shave time and stress during the build. I'm interested to see how you progress with this if you do the full rail.

A secondary table. Yes, the table is solid. Legs fold and are heavy duty. I pulled it out yesterday to set up for Easter and decided to use it for poker to save some time cleaning up. We played on it last night with this topper and I hope to never have to do that again

Do your games usually have more than 8 players? You say it will be a secondary table, but when your players get some games in playing on a round, you won't want to go back to oval. We only play on my big oval if we have more than 8. Round is so much better.

I’ve done this on a recent Chanman felt and also a thicker casino felt with very deep wrinkles.

On my most recent Chanman I actually let it lay out for a day like this after ironing too before final install. No issues whatsoever. Don’t overthink it. They arrive super wrinkled and they tend to work themselves out it seems. I’ve also heard of some people throwing in the wash but I have not tried that.

This was all @Bloo_Design (https://www.pokerchipforum.com/members/12962/) He recommended a 7" "racetrack" basically, from the inside of the rail to the betting line. I'm definitely happy with the spacing! I'm assuming it will depend mostly on the table size as well. This table is 7' x 3.5'. Definitely chat with @Bloo_Design (https://www.pokerchipforum.com/members/12962/) and he will be able to guide you for sure!

Yea I think I’ve seen on your website before when I’ve been looking into building a table. I think I’ve booted that down the line for now.

Right now I’m leaning into some of the toppers I see that Ryan makes for our current table as well as one of the Barrington tables. They seem like a really good foldable option.

I believe I saw you do the design work at 100 an hour past the initial two hours when ordering custom felt. Is that something you offer in general or only when ordering felt? And would one of your designs be able to be used else where? I’m assuming yes.

@T_Chan (https://www.pokerchipforum.com/members/71/) would be my first address, even here in Europe. The quality is top notch and with the FX rate for CHF vs. CAD, it's comparable with buying locally. Alternatively, Matsui also does custom felts over here.

Custom toppers work excellent as a permanent installed playing surface. If you’re interested in exploring that option come talk to me :)

I have to give @Bloo_Design (https://www.pokerchipforum.com/members/12962/) some serious props for this one!

This client wanted a Monopoly table 1st and a poker table 2nd.

Ray created the monopoly board from scratch, Sourced the logos, created the boxes/text/colors/etc flawlessly! Hard to tell without blowing it up, but the board is amazingly accurate, crisp & clean.

Too busy for me to play on, but the client is ecstatic over the design

Gaming suede from Chanman a few years ago. We play mixed games mostly with quite a bit of double board as the evening progresses.

If you turned up the opacity on the background images, it wouldn't be so bad. But as long as the customer is happy.

Here's the artwork file to make it a lot clearer. I found the Goku and Vegeta images online, combined them on the felt then added a dragon image I had on file. I wish I could have used Shenron but I couldn't find a good image to use. I thought the betting line would be funky to have it fade between the two colors.

Cool idea, but for better playability, should have gone with a 60" round instead of an oval table. It would be miserable to play a game of monopoly from the end of the oval, plus round tables are awesome for poker too!

Less is more. Easy to get overly eager with layers when designing something. Drop the card holders and the overlay over the icons. I would also align things better (seems a bit off). Also the white borders kinda does not make sense for the colour scheme you have gone for.

Edit: would also drop the black on the edges and make the icons the outer part. Get better quality of the image you are going to use for the centerpiece, or swap it out for something different

I’m fine with it being a bit mental tbh, it’s all the halo maps in the card holders, pretty nostalgic to me and a few friends - I will get rid of the white borders and try blend it in a bit better and change the colour of the betting line. The overlay is just a watermark

The black edges is just to show the rail and the main image in the front is in vector format, why it doesn’t look good quality (it looks better on AI)

You asked for advice, but all good. It is your own design after all 🙂

The first thing you learn in any design is that white space is your friend, and clutter is your enemy. White space is basically breathing room that allows something to shine - less is more.

Backtrack in this thread and look how great felts look like for inspiration. Start with a plan, edit and redo it until you are happy. Also - the quality of the images you use matters a lot, especially for something that is going to be printed. If you struggle in AI someone can do it for you for a buck.

Good luck!

You already have drink holders at the spot, the square on the gel is redundant - also do you want three players sitting at designate spots, I would rather they sit as they wish once you get to short table poker. Nice design though.

I’ve got a chanman table with custom cloth it was built around 2018-2019. I don’t recall what exact type of cloth it was. It got a tequila and soda drink spilled and now it looks like a water mark. Should we just dab at it with a wet warm cloth or should I get a steam cleaner? Thanks.

Take the felt off and wash it. Cold water, delicate cycle with detergent. I've used spray and wash on stains.

Dry on air dry or delicate cycle. I've washed my felts in the washing machine multiple times. They come out looking brand new. Don't worry about wrinkles. When you put them back on, they will pull the wrinkles right out assuming you use a light coat of adhesive.

It's gaming suede. The material is very durable, you can do as Craig mentioned, and you can also use a steam cleaner. Many people have used a steam cleaner on our felts with no signs of damage. Dabbing it with a cloth to soak up excess liquid is always the best first step, but if the stain remains, then some more drastic measures are required.

Yes! The Little Green is also a great option that I use in between washer/dryer cycles. It's especially good when someone spills a beer.

I really like the felt design it came with, but might change it so looking here for thoughts.

Thanks for sharing. Looks even better close-up! Does it live up to its "soft" name?

I tried to find a local supplier here in Australia without success, but I did find it listed somewhere (https://www.albrightssupply.com/endurasoft-carbon-fiber-marine-vinyl-classic-black-car100)as "marine vinyl". A good friend runs a marine upholstery business about 2 hours away from me, so I might be in luck if he sources anything from Enduratex.

Edit: I personally really like the current felt design you've got on this. Unless it's worn and needs replacing, I'd save my money for something else rather than replace it. But that's just my personal take.

Yep- I’d say it’s more flexible than soft. I like the look of it for a couple of reasons - glad I went for it.

I really like the current felt design, it’d last for years. However I have a slight case of the ‘PCF curse’ and would like to make it a little more personal - the font I had added is still super basic and I could have done a better job there.

I ordered a color & felt sample from @T_Chan (https://www.pokerchipforum.com/members/71/) today - no rush to make a change, but think part of the next evolution on the home setup:

Next step sounds like is to decide either ‘smooth’ or ‘fleece’ side up. Will wait and see when I get the sample.

Yeah, @T_Chan (https://www.pokerchipforum.com/members/71/) recommended:

“Looks like you have a dedicated dealer spot. For that style of table, I would recommend the fleece side. You only need the smooth side if you plan on dealing from the ends of the table and need max card glide.”

However most of my games will be self dealt, and my current table is on the more ‘fleecey’ side and folk do struggle to pitch the cards across if you sit at the ends. So I’m leaning the smooth side.

In this pic, you can see the felt draped over the rear table, as it wasn’t completed just yet. I’m thrilled to have the same felts on my tables now. You can see the tables are slightly different sizes, shapes and configurations, but the felts being the same makes most people think they are identical.

I’m thinking about a concept themed around poker, D&D, with nods to another interest, WWE. I worked this up a thumbnail concept in PowerPoint so the proportions all off, and I’d recolor the card graphics from red to pink matching the font, but you’ll get the idea. I would lean into one theme a bit more, if its a poker table you don't really want the full card art on it. It's a poker table seems redundant to me.

I would do something like a dungeons layout and put images of iconic D&D monsters.

Something like this for the base

and then something like this to mark the phat loots

You could have an adventure party

I'm currently at the final design stages with the team from Chanman Poker tables and couldn't be more impressed with their professionalism and attention to detail. Here's what will be printed unless they say something needs to change.

Background - I've been an Ayrton Senna fan since I can remember watching races. Loved the mid-80s Lotus FI John Player Special livery and have a fully themed racing garage where we play poker. Including a 14' x 8 ft Carrera slot car layout. Also, I own a Lotus Evora 400.

Not ideal for poker IMO, but worth posting to give @Bloo_Design (https://www.pokerchipforum.com/members/12962/) props for his work on this one.

This table went to Australia, the board was made from scratch with property pieces for that region.

Here is the table that I came up with and had some great help from Ray @ Chanman. Was a fun build and it plays very well. Many compliments. I'm a big Ayrton Senna fan and this is the car he earned his first F1 victory. The years in the betting line are the years of Lotus' F1 Contructor's titles. Eliminated the Heart from the suits and added Colin Allen Brown Chapman (founder of Lotus) initials. Table folds up on pivoting frame for storage.

Does anyone here design felts? for what i’m wanting I don’t really think it makes sense to have a company design it (very minimal). Would be happy to compensate for time as well.

If you are going through Chanman you get some design time included.

Evening all, I’ve decided I need a felt topper vs using my neoprene board game toppers. I’m new at this so looking for some advice, mainly is the concept I’m working on to busy for poker??? I feel like I started out pretty simple and it ended a bit wild after a few chatGPT prompts 😅.

I will be using this in my odd dimensioned dining table hence the limited seats and ratio.

Thanks for the assistance!

Any fans of Disco Elysium? I've been thinking about a table topper themed for the Whirling In Rags.

Stupid question: do you measure a poker table from outer rail to outer rail to determine the length?

Or from one end of felt inside the rail to the other point inside the rail?

Thank you!

Both

Both

For instance, I'm looking for a custom felt/speed cloth and see some posters saying they have a 7-foot table or 8-foot table.

So I would just tell the vendor both measurements then? Outermost part od the rail to the other is 8 ft, felt to felt is 86 inches.

Love your YouTube videos btw T_Chan, I'm going to use this as my guide for renovating my first table.

Yeah, both measurements are the best. Technically I only need the inside of the rail dimension but it's good to know how wide the rail is. Our first drafts also usually include the rail so with the color of vinyl you're going to use so that you can get a better idea of how the whole thing will look. Then we remove the rail from the artwork before it gets sent to print.

I do a bit of graphic design, and i could use the practice if anyone would like to get their ideas into a design, ready to be printed :)

Having a cloth designed by VaiderPoker to match my new Tangier chips. My first real table and set of chips.

What do we think as far as colors go? 🤔

I like the grey - I think it makes the colors pop and might do the same for your chips and make them stand out more!

Depends on the colors of the chips
