Any interesting card cappers you’d like to share?

I’ve decided to follow in @k9dr (https://www.pokerchipforum.com/members/327/) shoes and order some mini brass cappers for each of my sets.

  1. Mini tiger

  1. Mini octopus

  1. Mini lucky dragon

I got this little guy as a gift from my tattoo artist. Seemed apt. Kind of goes with the demon on my back shoulder. You can tell just by looking at this guy, he’s a freakin calling station. I much prefer when he’s feeling more aggressive. 😂

I have a few I use, but my primary one is called a Shuffle. It’s a Zirc/titanium fidget from a Chinese EDC maker called Lautie. Crafted from quality materials, it matches the poker aesthetic nicely. It has enough heft that it won’t get knocked off your cards. It clicks and slides, making it a solid alternative to fidget with when you’re bored of handling chips 😅

This reminds me of one of my all time favorite shirts a friend of mine was wearing in a very public place. There was an occasional muttering, but mostly people just laughing hysterically. Initially, I was pretty mortified. He worked for me and it was a business trip. We just happened to have an afternoon without any scheduled meetings. My buddy and I decided to go hang out at the pool and have drinks and he comes walking out in this shirt.

It turns out, the stuffy people from the meetings had senses of humor after all. Made the rest of the trip much lighter! It was great.

Still looks awesome, though. I imagine some strategically applied glue and a bit of powdered felt on the spots that touch the card or table would solve that. Worst case, glue it to a small base, maybe. I need to rethink my plastic toy. Some of you have really cool cappers! Decades ago I owned a neat pewter Snoopy dancing on a die. Some jerk decided to take out his anger on my poor Snoopy and decapitated him. 😢

Does look sick, though. Bet some well placed glue and some of that powdered felt applied to the bits that would be in contact with the card/table could take care of that. Worst case, glue it to a small mount, maybe? I need to rethink my plastic toy. Some of you guys have some really cool cappers! Decades ago, I had a really cool pewter snoopy dancing on a die that was cool. Some asshole decided to take out his frustration on my poor snoopy and decapitated him. 😢

For me Baby Lindor is more of a stack capper because I use chips in seal tites as card cappers but he occasionally gets brought down for extra luck. The fielder is 2024 and the batter is 2025. Had to throw away Baby Alonso along with his City Connect jersey.

45 rpm record adapter from WFMU.org (https://wfmu.org/)

WFMU-FM is a listener-supported, non-commercial radio station broadcasting at 91.1 Mhz FM in Jersey City, NJ, right across the Hudson from lower Manhattan. It is currently the longest running freeform (http://wfmu.org/freeform.html) radio station in the United States.

...

WFMU’s programming ranges from flat-out uncategorizable strangeness to rock and roll, experimental music, 78 RPM Records, jazz, psychedelia, hip-hop, electronica, hand-cranked wax cylinders, punk rock, gospel, exotica, R&B, radio improvisation, cooking instructions, classic radio airchecks, found sound, dopey call-in shows, interviews with obscure radio personalities and notable science-world luminaries, spoken word collages, Andrew Lloyd Webber soundtracks in languages other than English as well as Country and western music.

All of the station’s programming is controlled by individual DJs and is not beholden to any type of station-wide playlist or rotation schedule. Experimentation, spontaneity and humor are among the station’s most frequently noted distinguishing traits. WFMU does not belong to any existing public radio network, and close to 100% of its programming originates at the station.

(Streams online and has archives going back 20+ years)

As well as card cappers they also do t-shirts :D

2 more arrived.

The Octopus and Tiger are hollow casts—so fairly lightweight. Feels a bit like a bait-and-switch compared with the tiger in the initial photo they show you.

The dragon is chunky and substantial /heavy—clearly more premium.

Made a whole new post on accident. Because I didn’t realize some called them cappers. You learn something new everyday haha. Here’s my addition to the thread.

Thought it’d be fun for us to show our card protectors and maybe tell a story if they have sentimental value. I’ll start.

I use this Zippo as one of my card protectors; it belonged to my late grandfather who passed away two years ago. He was a Vietnam War Veteran and he was my hero but he was not a poker player. I found this is his box of nick-nacks that he kept in his closet. He wasn’t a gambler like my father’s side is and I chuckled when I found it because it seemed like he meant for me to have it; this zippo sure means a lot to me and is much more than a card protector. It took 15 years for the cancer to catch up to him along with a bad hip replacement but he fought to the bitter end, I carry this zippo in my pocket to every poker game so he is always with me.

Pictured below is his zippo and the last photo I got of him in what he called “my cool new shades” as well as two photos of him in Nam he was the strongest man I ever met.

Able to score a Kirkland branded sliver bar at my local Costco. Kept on missing out online so was super happy to find in store. Now it’s a fun card capper! :D

That is stunning. Where did you come across it???

Two items:

https://www.billetspin.com/gambit/p/stainless-steel-stemless-top-gambit-body-design-2

https://www.billetspin.com/gambit-coins-1/p/gambit-coin-5-spade-flamed-tungsten

The base operates as a top...I managed to get it to spin for nearly 12 min. It will readily spin for a minute or longer on top of an inlaid chip.

Retiring the gorilla?

I still like the gorilla. The gorilla can sit on chip stacks and the gambit can be the card capper.

that base/body would be perfect with a web mold set

there is another retro looking one like dots/rectangles MD46/55 combined or Tr-Bal MD56;

not sure if there is a real mold just like that because it looks so familiar

(a larger selection of the inserts would be nice)

just finished my undergrad with a geology degree, so total rock nerd here

I have so many other unused bric-a-brac things, that I originally intended to be a capper just laying around, that I forget about them.

@HolySchist848 (https://www.pokerchipforum.com/members/20587/): Can you ID the rock on the right?

some more misc caps around the cave:

(https://www.pokerchipforum.com/attachments/1788803931820-webp.1728446/)a Damascus brick* & silver Mjölnir

*can anyone identify what the semi-cuboid chunk of steel is really supposed to be used for? hint: has to do with food (https://www.pokerchipforum.com/attachments/1788803673483-webp.1728437/)

Mjolnir looks like a oyster thing

Mjolnir resembles an oyster-like object

I was talking about the 99g damascus steel, curvy rectangular-cuboid piece

but that's an oddly close guess as: it's actually an accessory for seafood cutlery — a resting base for a set of damascus sushi chopsticks :)

I've primarily been carrying the Hitmen Challenge coin I received from @Mesnik44 (https://www.pokerchipforum.com/members/440/)'s league. It took me many years to earn this coin, which has a serialized number on the back that I chose. My lucky number is 20.

I’ve been using this little cat figurine lately. Despite a losing session here and there, since acquiring this little thing from TEMU, it’s been a good run and I’ve been on the winning side of cash poker since April. My bankroll is far far from danger now, even playing 1/3/5 is still sketchy, but I can take a bad session here and there.

I’m not really truly superstitious, but kitty has done something, or is doing something for me. I sometimes look at him for help, especially at the casino. I’ve been in the casino a lot, and it can get lonely in there.

It’s always hidden behind my stack photos out of sight in the “Live stacks” thread. However, he is there at all times protecting the cards.
