Had 3 sessions today, at 100PLO5. Ran up a few buy-ins, but felt tired and cut the last session short. Lost a few buy-ins at the end which I didn't need to... Roll at 4691.

been playing a bit of 200PLO5, running decent... roll at 5560

Oops, just lost two flips and started tilting, roll at 4982... Feel like I should not be playing 200PLO, too high for my roll... let's go back a level.

Ran good at 100PLO5, up to 5780... Took a shot at 200PLO4, table was filled with fish, but ran bad and played one hand bad, lost 2,5 stacks... roll at 5295

Another shot at 200PLO6 this time... lost a stack, lost a few stacks earlier at 100PLO5 too... roll at 4617 :O One of these days I have to have a winning session at 200... maybe tomorrow I'll hardcore grind some 50 or something, I really want to move up to 200... so far all the shots at it haven't gone so well.

Grinded 50PLO6 up about 8 buyins, then played 100PLO5, about breakeven... Felt I didn't play so well on PLO5, but got lucky in a nr. of spots.. Roll at 5130

Thanks, I originally grew my roll from an initial deposit of 1k€ to like 3 or 4k grinding these bounty builder omaha tourneys.. Nowadays I don't really like playing them because I like to be able to choose when I play, and not be on a schedule, so these days it's just cash. I also prefer 5 card to 4 card... Played some 6 card today... 6 card is hard, I would say I'm probably best at 5 card right now... Anyway, played a bunch of 100PLO6 today and won a little bit... roll at 6861€

Don’t know if you mentioned it yet but why you Mixing Variants? Better to become a Master of one since 4/5/6c all Play different and as you say 5c is your strongest why not stay at it? Traffic should be more than enough GL on your Journey

Thanks for your post. It's a good question and a good thing to think about. One thing to note is that I play mostly for fun, I just use the money to keep the score. That being said, I enjoy the different formats and the variation between them. Today I played some 4 card tourneys, got second in one of them, final table in the other one, but was shortest and busted first... I don't enjoy tourneys that much, but do seem to be good at them. I see most of the regs even play quite bad in those tourneys... So in terms of getting a higher score I should be playing them... I think I would get bored playing just one variant all the time, so now I switch between 5 and 6 card... I'll consider your advice though to specialize in 5 card... I actually bought a PLO mastermind subscription and could start taking 5 card a lot more seriously and study using the solver and/or the 5 card videos from PLO mastermind...

although I made a bit in the tourneys, I lost in the cashgames, both 5 and 6 card at 0,50/1,00... roll 6064

Rake and skill wise tourneys Seem to be the way to go imo, try it for a month, aint much to be lost Omaha mtt fields are Weak and small so Variance shouldnt be too big

I was playing 100 and 200PLO6 these days, had a winning session yesterday... Also popped the Golden Whale 01 for 1200$, Now I'm Platinum Whale, so straight 50% rakeback. Of course it isn't 50% because of the PVI bs that GG uses, but still nice to get a weekly rakeback instead of having to grind for a spin so much. Still need to grind 120k points monthly to maintain Platinum... roll is at 8410. with regards to specializing in one game.. I could do tourneys, but bubbles are so stressful. To me it's as stressfull as getting a big 400bb pot in on a flip, but extended over multiple hands. In some of these small fields the bubbles can last really long, very stressful. Tournaments require a lot more concentration than cashgames... Going to grind a big sunday coming sunday though... I think I want to keep playing both cash and tourneys though... We'll see.. I'll have to consider it.. I'm not too stoked on sharing too much of my own thought processes, in case some of my competition reads along. Not sure if that's happening currently. I do study a bit with the PLO mastermind sometimes, that helps in improving my game.

Thanks! I do usually quit after losing a few buy-ins, but it's more by feel, when I feel the losses will affect my play, or I feel I'm already not playing well. I will tilt quit sometimes if I make a mistake that costs me a pot, but generally not after bad beats, I can handle those. What feels like mistakes tilts me. So I do usually quit after losing a few buy-ins, if I feel I'm running terribly or playing bad, but it's not really at a set level, just by feel.

Yes especially the lower buyins up to 54$, lot of clueless players imo some of the 108 tourneys are really tough, the 150$ daily main bounty hunters is pretty soft too. You can often tell if someone comes from hold'em mainly

I studied a bit of the mastermind PLO.. not sure if it was worth it... Mostly just thinking about it myself actually yesterday I asked Dirk Gerritse in his stream how he studies PLO MTT's. He said there's very little material out there, so in terms of studying ICM you could check out NLHE stuff..

I think maybe because I was also playing 5 card PLO a lot.. Now I just focused on 6 card.. and 4 card tourneys... better than 3 different games I guess XD. In General I practiced much better game selection too, just avoiding reg only tables. I played a bit more today, 200PLO6, roll at 21745

If you’re not leveraging your roll to its full potential for poker then makes sense to put it to work somewhere else

Just from feeling I'm kind of overrolled for it... but I play short sessions that aren't crazy swingy. I mean they're swingy... but the swings are a few buyins per session as you can see in this thread.. I wouldn't know how to give you a more objective answer

I really don't know... I just think an absolute beginner gets more bang for their buck in a tournament... if you don't mind losing money you can jump into cash games as well.. Or if you want to play 5 and 6 card, there aren't a lot of tournaments... I don't know just try what games you like best, and play with money you can afford to lose as a beginner..

Prefer small field MTTs by a lot.. they just take shorter to finish and there's less time to make huge mistakes... Dont do that. Unless u think ur actually -ev in the game. Ur brain is fried atm because of this downswing. 6card variance is mega ****ed up, like 300bb/100 std dev iirc. Just play like plo200 or plo500/1k in the best games for a little bit while ur confidence is lower. Plus mtts ofc.

Are you chasing losses? If so just be aware its a sign of gambling addiction if you are. Avoid that thinking. if you go under 50k don't try and get back over 50k but just make +ev bets.

it's a guy who charges a percentage of the profit... I don't know what percentage yet, I'm in the middle of an application process with this guy. It depends what percentage he is asking as to whether I will agree to it. Maybe 20% is fair? I don't know... I think common CFP deal is 50/50. But 5cardguy said to one Finnishplayer that 6card CFP deal is much better for players (?) And i know because there were an interview (on finnish) where some Finnish player hype about 5cardguy (The interview seemed like he have some affiliate% If he brings more Finnishplayers to the stable) He also said that The coach is very good friend of him nowadays and how he changed his life. If you make 10k/month and paying lets say 30% of 10hours of coaching per week (i don't know the numbers exactly) in a week it's pretty big money. Im sure you could find a better coach let's say 200$/Hour.

Recently I've been quite tilted, not playing well at all in the 6 card PLO. The coach rejecting me was also quite a tilting thing. But I haven't played well at PLO6 in a long time, so deciding to give that a rest and try to run it up playing tourneys again.... I cashed out 10k, which was the maximum. Over the next couple of days I will cash out 40k and start again at the bottom, playing tourneys.

Even if the last month has been far from ideal, you still had very good results overall, Congrats! If mental is the issue, maybe going to psychotherapist would help (I think you can afford it).

There is nothing wrong with cashing out and moving down in stakes. You are a strong player who is self aware. Being able to be honest with yourself and keep plugging along is a great asset to your game. It is ok to set aside ones ego to do what is best for you current situation and there is no shame in that.
