i just spammed micro stakes tables and lost a lot early on but you start recognizing betting patterns faster than reading guides honestly

just dive in — trial and error outperforms theory every time

Do you find it easier to learn when you focus more on the math side of poker first, or does reading opponents at the table click faster for you?

Played 500 hands of Zoom, then folding became the sensible action quickly.

Just play tight for like the first 20 hands; folding weak cards teaches you more than you'd expect.

Learning fast in poker is a bit of a myth tbh. You can read a preflop chart in ten minutes but actually understanding why you're folding middle pairs under the gun takes hundreds of hands where you get punished for playing them. I'd say just grind the lowest stakes and force yourself to verbalize why you're doing every action, even if it feels stupid.

I learned the hard way that folding a lot before the flop speeds things up. During my first week I just sat at micro stakes and only played premium hands like AQ or better, and suddenly the game's rhythm started to make sense because I wasn't finding myself in messy spots every hand.

Stay aligned with JJ+ and pursue those micro stackers.

fold it repeatedly until it feels incorrect, then discover the reason why

honestly the quickest approach is grinding microstakes holdem tables while keeping a preflop chart on your second screen; the pace of betting rounds snaps into place faster when you observe why playing KJo from early position repeatedly bleeds your stack.

Trying to learn fast without recording your own hands is like studying a map but never driving anywhere tbh. Are you mostly playing cash or tourneys right now, cause the "fast" lessons are really different for each.

Stick to a single table at play the lowest stakes and actually say out loud why you’re betting or folding; it compels you to consider ranges in the moment instead of mindlessly clicking buttons. Even if you feel foolish muttering to yourself, it helps concepts stick far better than only reading charts.

just play a lot of hands at the lowest stakes and dont overthink it. theory is fine but your brain wont actually learn the patterns til you lose a few dumb pots and feel it. no real shortcut there.

learned more from one bad bluff where my hands were shakign than from all the charts I stared at.

Did you begin with Hold'em, or are you attempting to jump directly into PLO?

I'd push back on the notion that mindlessly grinding microstakes is the quickest route, because you can develop poor habits fast if you don't grasp why you're making particular plays. Monitoring a session is useful, but you should stop and analyze the hands that puzzled you; otherwise you simply keep repeating the same mistakes.

no, fast learning is overrated — merely memorizing preflop charts won’t rescue you once the hand goes postflop
