Bro poker on stake is lowkey fire if you know what you're doing, the action can be tasty af but don't sleep on the rake lol.

Honestly poker on stake is solid, just don't go in blind or that rake will eat you alive lmao.

Depends on your goals tbh, if you just wanna have fun and maybe catch a bag it's worth a shot, but the rake no joke fr πŸ˜‚.

Yeah fr, if you're just tryna chill and have some fun it's worth a shot, but that rake will humble you quick lmao.

if you're just getting into it, stake's a decent spot to learn the ropes without crazy stakes. just keep an eye on the rake like everyone's saying, it adds up fast lol

If you're new, stick to the micro stakes tables first, way less sharks and you can actually learn without getting rinsed instantly.

I haven't tried this game before

honestly if you are completely new to poker i would not start on stake. the player pool is weirdly aggressive even at low limits and you wont learn proper fundamentals that way

I would actually push back on the idea that Stake is a bad starting point. The soft tables at micro stakes let you get a feel for real money play without the pressure of perfect fundamentals right away, just be ready to adjust when you move elsewhere.

Low stakes games are softer than youd think.

Honestly, if you enjoy playing against overly aggressive newbies then Stake can be a fun learning curve but don't expect it to teach you prroper table patience.

yeah it's decent to learn on tbh, just start small becuase teh rake is realy sneaky lol ?

Ive dipped in a few times. The micro stakes tables move real slow which might be good if you just wanna practice reading opponents without burning money fast.

morthenNewbie3 posts

Yeah it is a solid place to test the waters, especially if you stick to the smallest tables at first. I actally found it pretty decent for spotting patterns in how casual players overvalue mediocre hands.

last week i sat at a 0.01/0.02 table for like twenty minutes and this one guy shoved all in every time he had ace anything, even ace deuce off suit. its hilarious to watch that stuff play out wehn you are not the one bleeding chips.

its fun just dont be like me and sit down thinking its like the free play tables lol

Nah the rake is so chunky it basically eats any edge at low stakes.

id rather mess around at micro stakes for a few hours than sit through another generic slot sesh tbh. at least with poker you feel like you actually lost cuz of a bad decision and not just pure luck eatnig your balance.

novaarliaNewbie3 posts
Posted Jul 11, 2026, 3:19 PM#24

do you know if the player pool is soter at certain times or is it always the same sharks circling the same tables

StrikeynNewbie4 posts
Posted Jul 11, 2026, 3:47 PM#25

peak hours late night UTC the tables fill with degens chasing losses, prime time to catch them tilted

luxesseMicro-Stakes Grinder9 posts

Honestly the player pool can be tough for a newbie, you're jumping straight into tables wtih seasoned grinders.

lorramiaMicro-Stakes Grinder12 posts

i gave it a proper go last month and found the sunday afternoon tables super soft, basically just people punting stacks with top pair no kicker every hand.

seleneioinMicro-Stakes Grinder6 posts

Mate if you jump on during the late night EST chaos those tables get wild and some folks just donate their stacks, worth a peek at least.

my buddy learned the hard way that chassing a gutshot straight on the river is a quick path to busting his depo lmao

if you're gonna dive in, maybe practice a bit first so you're ready for that rake monster lol ?

The rake structure feels designed for nosebleed stakes but it plays out on the micro tables too
