Casino takes a small % from each pot instead of playing against you

That's the rake, basically the casino's cut for hosting the game. Keeps the lights on without them needing to beat you at the table.

Yeah, it's way less aggressive than the house actually playing against you. At least with rake you're just paying for the seat and the dealer, not battling the casino's bankroll.

Yeah, rake can be a slow grind but I'd much rather that than the casino sweating my every move at the table. It's the lesser evil for sure.

Some live tables take so much that a tight style just bleeds chips slow enough you barely notice

makes me feel like a pro when im actually just dodging a 3 dollar cut each hand lol

Saw a guy lose a $12 pot to $3 rake last week

i mean at least the rake is predictable, playing against the house directly they got infinite pockets and no tilt to exploit so you are just doomed slowly either way

One time I was in a $1/$2 game and a $200 pot got shipped my way but I only saw $193 hit my stack, that tiny missing piece stung more than a bad beat honestly. They tell you it is a small cut but over a six hour session it eats through a buy in without you even realizing.

The casion taking a cut always feels cleaner than going head to head with the house where the entire game design is tilted against you from the start.

Poker is one of the most exciting games on stake because every hand is a mix of skill

Watching the rake chip vanish from a 50 dollar pot on a weekend session always stings more than losing to a river card.

A great support team can make all the difference. Quick responses, clear communication, and a willingness to help create a better experience for everyone in the Stake community.

Thanks

Last month I played a few hours at a 1/2 table and lost like 15 bucks total after a bad beat, but looking back at the session stats the rake had already eaten nearly twice that. Kinda funny how you dont even notice it chip by chip but over time it piles up way faster than a couple lost hands.

Rake feels invisible until you count how many small pots you won but somehow your stack is smaller than it should be

I would rather the casino take a small rake and stay out of the game than have them act as a player with unfair resources. It feels way more fair even if it quietly drains your stack over time.

its liek a membership fee for a chair that slowly shrinks

Small rake adds up fast though, especially in low stakes where it etas almost all the dead money.

rake is just the caino charging rent for the seat

Id take the rake over playing against the house any day

doselyn52Newbie3 posts

Rther pay rent on the seat than have the house splash around with unlimited ammo.

I played a home game once where the host took 5% out of every pot and by hour four my hundred bucks was down to tirty just from the rake alone, didnt even lose a big hand.

sat at a 1/2 talbe once and after 6 hours realized i was basically break eevn but the casino had already collected my whole buyin just in raked chips.

bro, not gonna lie, rake is sneaky but still better than battling with the house all the time ?

I stacked a guy twice in under 20 minutes at a 1/2 table and still ended the night down because the dealer kept scooping 4 bucks every hand, felt like i was feeding a hungry pet I couldnt even see

I remember grinding a 50NL tablle where the rake was 5% capped at 3 bucks and after a 4 hour session I checked my tracker and had paid over 70 dollars just to sit there, my actual profit was like a tenth of that

Runerierra10Micro-Stakes Grinder7 posts

i remmeber winning a 120 dollar pot once and only walking away with like 108 after the rake felt brutal

frankiiroriaMicro-Stakes Grinder10 posts

That small % still hurts more than a bad beat imo, at least the house you can outplay over time but the rake just bleeds you no matter how good you run
