A game of luck? Or a game of mind game

It’s both tbh, short term luck can carry you but over time it’s all about reading people and staying disciplined.

tbh it’s mostly mind games once you’re past the beginner level, luck just decides which way the bad beats go

It’s a mind game with a luck seasoning, without the mental part you’re just gambling blind.

Honestly it's a mind game wrapped in luck's packaging. You can't control the cards but you can control how everyone at the table perceives them.

The word "luck" always feels like a placeholder for variance you haven't figured out how to explain yet.

Its pure mental chess when you stare down a river bet with second pair knowing villian bluffs 70% of his missed draaws

I once folded pocket aces on the flop because the guy across from me had this weird lip twitch every time he hit a monster, and sure enough he showed a flopped set. Made me a believer that it's way more about reading people than whatever two cards you're holding.

feel like its a mind game with a splash of chaos, especially in omaha where the odds flip so fast

Mind games for sure, bluffing my way through Texas Hold'em tonight.

Do you think the luck side kicks in more when everyones deep stacked or shorstacked?

It always felt like a mental chess mtach the moment you stop staring at your own cards and start watching how long the other guy takes to check.

Ever folded a royal draw cause you just knew the other guy had the nuts

My gut runs the show, cards are just alng for the ride

It starts as luck until you notice the guy who hasn't blinked in three orbits, then it's pure theater.

yeah its both bro, luck hits short term but teh real edge is in reading guys and not tilting lol ?

Its totally a mind gamme once you get past the first few hands. Luck just decides who wins today but reading people decides who still has a bankroll next month

Do you find that the mind game part changes completely when you switch between online and live play?

faithirryNewbie2 posts

I once bluffed a guy out of a huge pot with nothing but a nervous twitch I couldn't control, so for me it's deinitely more mind game than luck.

Bit of both for sure but the mind games is where the real fun is, i once folded a straight just cause the other guy looked to relaxed

frankiwynNewbie1 posts

I folded a flush once, dude legit sneezed way too calm

i mean it's clearly both but the luck part is just the cards dealt, after that it's all a mental scrap. lost a tourney once cos i convinced myself some guy's sigh was weakness when he was just tired lmao

mikkevoraNewbie3 posts

Watch for players who bet fast every street without much thought, that timing is usually weakness.

The real game is figuring out if your opponent blieves in luck or mind games.

i stacked a guy last week who i was sure was just staring me down to fake weakness, turs out he had pocket aces and my read was completly wrong.

Honestly I lean more toward luck than most people admit, the variance over small sample sizse like a single session or even a weekend can completely mask any skill edge you think you have
