fr man once u get the basics down it's actually mad fun, just start with low stakes and learn as u go lol
bro just start with play money first, that's how I learned and now I'm hooked fr
yeah fr play money is the move, you'll pick it up quick once you start seeing what hands actually win lol
just watch a few hands on youtube first, it all clicks way faster when you see it in action tbh
tbh it looks way more complicated than it actually is, once you memorize the hand rankings you're already halfway there
ngl I was in the same boat, just learn the hand rankings and jump into a play money table, you'll get the flow faster than you think
fr once you memorize what beats what, the rest is just vibes and patience tbh
its funny how most people think poker is just luck
Just focus on positon and folding bad hands first, the fany stuff can wait.
I learned by playing penny tables, lost $3 fast but clicked.
The worst is when you see the flop and have no clue if your hand even couts for anything lol
i watched my mate fold the nuts once total pain
id say watching someone explain it is way faster than just staring at a hand chart and trying to memorise cold
If you start with the short decck tables the odds feel way more obvious.
ever tried just watching a live steam with commentary to pick it up
Poker has that weird way of looking super simple on tv but then you sit down and suddenly you're sweating over a pair of threes. I just stuck to watching cash game streams with the chat explaining the bad beats and somehow the rules snuck into my brain without trying.
i find the idea of a game "looking good" but not knowing how to play it so relatable, poker really draws you in with the aesthetics then slaps you with confusion the second you sit down
Its funny you mention how it looks good, that smooth table felt did the same thing to me. Made me sit down and lose a bunch of play money before I even knew what a flush was.
my first time playing I thought thee of a kind always beat a straight, the table laughed for a solid minute
I got destroyed in my first game because I kept folding decent hands thinking the other guy always had something better.
Honestly my first go at it I didn't even realize the flop, turn, river had those names, I just thought you got dealt cards and then suddenly chips moved everywhere. Lost like three pretend hands in a row holding a king high thinking I was golden.
do you have freinds who play or you plan to just dive in solo?
